Our client a leader in third-party logistics combining entrepreneurial spirit with a dedication to operational excellence is seeking candidates for a NEW key leadership role. Reporting to company owners and top leaders the Regional Operations Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of a high-volume intermodal operation for multiple branches encompassing nearly 2000 employees including permanent and temporary workers. The Regional Operations Manager provides overall direction and oversight in the areas of performance safety budget management customer relations and labor relations across multiple sites. This role requires hands-on leadership with direct and indirect reports including union contract enforcement and ensuring employee accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly manage and develop Site Operations Managers while having indirect oversight of 2000 employees
- Enforcing the rules and regulations by preventing issues from arising administering disciplinary actions or resolving disputes
- Determine labor costs and best practices in operating a unionized workforce via the union contract
- Ensure safety training and compliance in fast-paced environments which includes outdoor exposure physical and ergonomic safety risks
- Supporting all needs for the main customer a Fortune 25 company which includes hitting all customer-driven KPIs
- Manage budgets and present ideas for cost improvements and through detailed financial analysis
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 5 years leadership experience in a high volume fast paced manufacturing logistics or transportation environment
- 5 years experience managing unionized labor with preference for exposure in negotiating union contracts
- Demonstrated ability to hold employees accountable through firm and consistent management
- Willingness to travel 25% or more as needed to manage operations in four locations in KY MI and KS
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the operations needs of 24/7 facilities in 2 time zones
- Effectively lead with diverse backgrounds personalities and communication styles
- Strong computer skills including Excel and logistics-related software
- Strong presence with professional demeanor
- Pass stringent background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in supply chain logistics or business-related field preferred
- Logistics experience
Salary and Benefits:
- Total compensation range (in addition to benefits) is $165000 - $185000 determined by candidate qualifications
