Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors in Criminal Justice Social Work Sociology Public Administration or a related field or an equivalent 5 yrs of experience in Human Trafficking/Victim Services.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in human trafficking prevention victim advocacy corrections or a related field.
- Experience working with incarcerated populations or individuals under correctional supervision is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to develop and implement training programs or initiatives.
- Certification in human trafficking awareness and prevention will be required within 18 months of hire.
- Valid drivers license (required for travel).

JOB OVERVIEW The Human Trafficking Coordinator will serve as a critical point of contact within the Department of Corrections (DOC) to address mitigate and prevent human trafficking within the correctional system. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies training programs and partnerships to combat human trafficking support victims and ensure compliance with anti-trafficking policies and regulations. The coordinator will work collaboratively with internal staff law enforcement agencies community organizations and other stakeholders to identify and respond to cases of human trafficking involving incarcerated individuals parolees and probationers.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation
- Develop and oversee anti-human trafficking programs and initiatives within the DOC.
- Create policies and procedures for identifying and addressing human trafficking cases.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness recommending improvements as needed.
Victim Identification and Support
- Implement screening protocols to identify potential victims of human trafficking among incarcerated populations and individuals under supervision.
- Collaborate with victim services professionals to provide appropriate support resources and rehabilitation for victims.
- Ensure that victims rights and confidentiality are upheld in all interactions.
Training and Education
- Design and deliver training programs for correctional staff on recognizing signs of human trafficking and protocols for responding to potential cases.
- Conduct public awareness campaigns to educate employees and stakeholders on human trafficking prevention and intervention.
Collaboration and Partnership Building
- Develop an internal High-Risk Team
- Serve as the primary liaison between the DOC and external organizations including law enforcement non-profits and government agencies to combat human trafficking.
- Foster partnerships with community organizations to provide services for victims and support reintegration efforts.
Data Collection and Reporting
- Develop and maintain databases to track human trafficking cases within the DOC.
- Analyze data and trends to provide reports recommendations and updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements on human trafficking-related issues.
Policy Compliance and Legal Oversight
- Ensure that all DOC practices align with state and federal anti-human trafficking laws including the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA).
- Collaborate with legal teams to address any policy violations or legal concerns related to trafficking cases.
Community Outreach
- Represent the DOC in community forums task forces and working groups focused on combating human trafficking.
- Promote public understanding of human trafficking issues through outreach and education initiatives.
