Associate Quality Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Associate Quality Engineer to join our Quality Assurance team. This role is essential in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality safety and performance throughout the entire lifecycle-from planning and production to post-delivery.

Primary Objectives

  1. Adhere to all Martin-Baker America policies operating procedures and work instructions at all times.
  2. Act as a Quality Assurance resource for resolving product quality issues across planning production and post-delivery stages.
  3. Address and resolve customer rejects returns complaints and prepare final reports.
  4. Represent Quality Assurance in Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
  5. Review material and product nonconformances and determine disposition per procedures.
  6. Compile and analyze supplier and in-house quality data to support quality metrics.
  7. Develop and distribute supplier quality scorecards.
  8. Initiate and review Corrective Action Requests (CARs) for both customer and internal issues.
  9. Participate in meetings (project planning production management review etc.) to communicate quality requirements.
  10. Request special material testing and evaluate test data.
  11. Assist in developing and maintaining Quality department procedures work instructions and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers and cross-functional teams to resolve technical and quality issues.
  • Manage MRB activities and perform SAP transactions related to quality notifications.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Investigate and resolve quality production and process control issues.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and product standards.
  • Organize and evaluate quality data to identify trends and recommend solutions.

Education & Experience

Essential:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements in process specifications and other technical documentation.
  • Other technical experience or certifications may be considered in lieu of a bachelors degree.

Desirable:

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in Engineering or Manufacturing related field. ASQ Quality Certification preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in Quality and/or Manufacturing within the Aerospace or Defense industry.
  • ASQ certification such as CQI (Certified Quality Inspector) CQT (Certified Quality Technician) or CQE (Certified Quality Engineer).

Technical & Communication Skills

  • Familiarity with industry standards (AS9100 ISO 9001) and quality tools (SPC Six Sigma root cause analysis etc.).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining sheet metal fabrication welding assembly plating and finishing.
  • Experience with inspection techniques equipment and interpreting technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel databases) and SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Strong technical writing skills for documentation and reporting.
