Job Description:
**This is for our new Ambulatory Surgery Center which will be connected to our hospital. ** Clinical oversight of operations for surgeries such as GI OR Pre-Op/PACU SPD/etc. Will have responsibility for accreditations and building policies from a regulatory standpoint. Primary day hours with the flexibility to adjust to fit business needs**
Key Accountabilities
- Supervises the overall day-to-day operations of the clinical staff within their covered department including patient care staff scheduling and coordination of activities between staff physicians and other providers to ensure quality patient care.
- Supports and facilitates organization staffing metrics and standards per ASC Division Leadership. Establishes expectations of clinical staff performance and daily priorities for completion of assignments in coordination with ASC Manager.
- Responsible for the clinical staff including recruitment hiring orientation training and development performance evaluation corrective action processes and merit increases. Maintains a cohesive efficient team to ensure high quality patient care.
- Must be able to fulfill the job description of the ASC RN; assists with patient care turnover of rooms and other float duties as needed to maintain and facilitate the flow of schedules. Participates in special projects as needed.
- Participates in review and update of clinical staff job descriptions with ASC Manager and HR to reflect current job responsibilities and expectations.
- Completes punch detail for clinical staff in their ASC department including but not limited to approving PTO documenting sick calls/FMLA for completion and/or review of staff schedule and validating posting of a balanced schedule in collaboration with ASC Manager.
- In conjunction with the ASC Manager responsible for maintaining and optimizing applicable budgets within their department.
- Collaborates with various clinic departments to assure provision of services and the resolution of issues. In addition works collaboratively with the ASC Manager to ensure optimum patient service and efficient operations.
- Maintains the ASC environment to meet the organizational state and federal guidelines/ administrative and patient care policies and procedures are compliant with F&MCW ASC Division standards HIPAA regulations workplace safety and infection control standards.
- Uses knowledge in particular field to promote continuous updates to staff by being involved with local and/or national organizations and regulatory bodies. Utilizes resources for such knowledge to educate and make recommendations via ASC Manager to committees and ASC Leadership for adherence and/or adoption.
- In collaboration with other Clinical Supervisor/Managers and ASC Manager coordinates the development implementation evaluation and review of the quality assurance performance improvement program to improve patient outcomes and safety; which meets the needs of the patients staff and external agencies; evaluates current systems and processes; monitors the effectiveness and safety of services; identifies areas of concern; identifies root cause of problems; identifies opportunities for improvement; and ensures improvements are sustained over time.
- Utilizes continuous quality improvement methods to improve service to internal and external customers by identifying efficient ways to complete clinical tasks recommending and implementing change communicating clinic vision assessing staffing needs and participating in short- and long-range planning.
- Participates in the development and conduction of needs assessments to determine current and anticipated staff training and development needs and recommends priorities plans and activities which address management objectives and employee interests.
- Participates in the development coordination and implementation of interdisciplinary staff development and orientation programs; as well as the criteria standards and guidelines for the evaluation of training and staff development programs.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years demonstrated leadership experience is required.
- The ability to supervise day-to-day activities and operations while also strategizing and implementing solutions leading to future success is required.
- Preferred charge/lead/coordinator position within an ASC setting with experience in staff management and process improvement.
- A Bachelors degree in Nursing is required. In lieu of Bachelors degree an Associate degree in Nursing and 4 years of experience may be accepted.
- A Masters degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and professionally with patients visitors staff physicians and the public both inside and outside the facility.
- Versatility to perform a wide variety of duties tasks and assignments as needs arise or are directed is essential.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Ability to interpret adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients family significant others employees and the general public.
- Ability to provide effective cooperative professional leadership to the role.
- Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact)
Physical Demands
- Ability to move freely (standing stooping walking bending pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (50) pounds without assistance
- Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

- Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
