Employment Opportunity: DistrictPOSITION: Special Education Coordinator PreK-4 (0.5 FTE)Moderate Special Education Teacher Floral Street School (0.5 FTE)2025-2026 School year Shrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Special Education Coordinator/Moderate Special Education Teacher a new hybrid leadership and teaching position designed to support our students and educators. This position is a full-time district-wide benefits-eligible position which includes responsibilities for special education program coordination (0.5) and responsibilities as a teacher of Special Education providing direct services to students (0.5) at Floral Street School a grades K-4 elementary school. The Coordinator will report to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services and collaborate closely with the Director for Prek-4 Special Education. We are seeking candidates who are invested in the achievement equity and access of all learners in and beyond the classroom. Candidates with diverse racial ethnic cultural religious class and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to Moderate Special Education Teacher portion of this role includes responsibility for classroom management and providing direct instruction to elementary students with moderate special education needs; this may include direct instruction assessment and screeningThe Special Education Coordinator portion of this position will play a key role in supporting the Director of PreK-Elementary Special Education by assisting with the coordination and oversight of special education programming across five elementary schools and preschool as assigned. It focuses on strengthening instructional practices supporting compliance with special education regulations and ensuring that students with disabilities receive high-quality individualized services that promote effective progress. Successful candidates will have a passion for and interest in instructional leadership including familiarity with programming models best instructional practices and curriculum development and have demonstrated experience in using data to align instruction and respond to student Responsibilities:Works under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services and collaboratively with the Director of PreK-Elementary Special Education to provide leadership and coordination of Special Education programming and servicesSupervise and evaluate Special Education teaching staff as assignedServe as a member of the District Leadership Team including attendance at monthly meetingsSupport the development review and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) ensuring they align with student needs state standards and compliance IEP implementation across schools to ensure fidelity to service delivery accommodations and modifications in collaboration with Team and collaborate with general and special education teams to implement specially designed instruction and evidence-based practices that provide meaningful access to the general education curriculum. Support decision making processes and provide guidance on Tiered teams in making instructional and behavioral decisions grounded in data and student and support the scheduling and facilitation of special education-related meetings including placement meetings transition planning student services roundtables and team in planning and delivering professional development for educators and service providers focused on special education practices differentiated instruction inclusive strategies and regulatory compliance. Find more information about Shrewsbury Public Schools athttps:// Preferred Qualifications:Masters degree in Special Education or a related field DESE certification in Special Education (Moderate or Severe Disabilities) required with an additional license as a special education administrator preferredMinimum of three years of successful experience in special education preferably at the elementary knowledge of IDEA state special education regulations and instructional practices that support diverse skill in coaching consultation and facilitation of team-based communication organizational and interpersonal to work collaboratively across multiple school teams and with with technology used for communication documentation and data the core values of Shrewsbury Public Schools Work Year/Compensation: This position is governed by the Shrewsbury Education Association Unit A contract; per that contract Curriculum Coordinators will work the 184 day teacher year plus 5 days to be scheduled with the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. Salary is placement on the teachers scale plus a stipend based on years of experience in a supervisory role. The position includes a full benefits package including health care insurance sick and personal time and tuition reimbursement. The position is eligible for membership in Unit A of the Shrewsbury Education Association (same as teachers).
