Job Summary
TheProject Manager will join our team in Tysons Corner VA with the possibility of a hybrid work schedule for a self-motivated individual who values independence. Our Hydrological and Hydraulic Services include roadway drainage plans hydraulic analysis river mechanics investigations storm sewer design ditch design culvert analysis pond design energy dissipation design FEMA analysis flood control modeling scour analysis riverine analysis for multidimensional flow erosion and sediment control NPDES permitting and stormwater management.
The Project Manager - Hydraulicswill work closely assisting other Project Managers in the completion of drainage and hydraulics aspects of traditional design-big-build and alternative delivery infrastructure projects. Duties will include performing hydrologic & hydraulic modeling scour analysis highway drainage design and stormwater management while complying with local State DOT and DHEC requirements providing technical assistance to designers in the resolution of drainage stormwater and erosion and sediment control issues and reviewing schedule and scope of work for design and construction issues related to hydraulics.
Responsibilities
  • Perform drainage design hydraulic and river mechanics investigations modeling designs and reviews using 1D and 2D hydraulics software on a wide range of transportation projects including highway and bridge construction projects.
  • Review documents and design work for compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Prepare designs to include state stormwater management plan requirements.
  • Mentor EITSin hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Perform hydrology analysis using applicable software as required.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying state and federal laws regulations and guidelines specifically on floodplain compliance
  • Participate in field investigations some travel may be required.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with the project team and stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of VDOTs Standards Policies and Procedures is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrology hydraulics river mechanics and bridge scour analysis and preferably experience in applying coastal or tidal hydraulics knowledge.
  • Familiarity with policies and procedures as outlined in the FHWA Hydraulic Disciplines suite of guidance/reference documents. Experience with computer programs such as MicroStation ORD-DU HEC-RAS HEC-HMS TR-20 TR-55 FHWA Hydraulics Toolbox HY8 etc. or similar type programs desired.
  • Design knowledge and experience with Virginia localities i.e. Fairfax Prince William Loudoun etc. is desirable.
  • A valid Drivers License is required with a safe driving record and must complete a pre-employment screening.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • ICE is a drug-free workplace.
Experience and Education Requirements
  • BS in Civil Engineering required; MS desired.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Virginia is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with large heavy civil infrastructure projects.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects and proficiency in recognizing sound tone and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
Expected Hours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project position is approved for hybrid work.
