SUMMARYThe Assistant Principal of Community and Belonging supports Central Catholic High Schools (CCHS) vision for diversity equity and inclusion for all its stakeholders by working within the Leadership level with School Counseling Campus Ministry Business Office Communications Admissions and Athletics Office to ensure all community members feel actively and positively connected to the CCHS its mission and its culture. The Assistant Principal of Community and Belonging is part of the administrative team working on staff recruitment development and retention as well as curriculum faculty support family support and student life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Assistant Principal of Community and Belonging will:
LeadProvide expertise in diversity equity and inclusion through strategic leadership and engage in social justice efforts with all stakeholders including but not limited to student and staff issues. Promote high expectations demonstrate a caring attitude and establish an environment that supports students social emotional and academic parts of daily school operations as needed (e.g. arrival/dismissal lunch school trips extra-curricular school activities school events etc.).Assist the President and Principal in aligning the schools diversity inclusion equity and justice practices with our identity as a Catholic school inspired by the mission and charism of the Marist with the President Principal Administration and Human Resources to improve effectiveness and success in recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty and in teacher observations as requested by the principal. Serve on the Leadership Team and the Academic Advisory responsibility for other projects as assigned by the Principal.
TeachPlan and coordinate professional development workshops to teach adults how to work effectively with all students promoting inclusive learning environments. Facilitate and ensure faculty professional growth in understanding the role of social and cultural factors in learning and as a coach and trainer for students parents and employees with cultural diversity and equity School programming that offers a positive representation of diverse backgrounds.
EngageSupport and develop student leadership in diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) and justice matters. Plan programs for students that foster student development in cultural and community affinity groups and programming to support the retention of students and CCHS reflects our communitys diverse and rich cultures and ethnicities by offering opportunities for CCHS to celebrate its diverse student and staff and facilitate meetings and outreach opportunities to engage and/or educate parents.
CollaborateSupport the Assistant Principals of Student Success in their roles and responsibilities including but not limited to implementing behavioral support structures conducting investigations developing student contracts and leading restorative justice the school counselors and the Student Support Team in ensuring that students receive behavioral attendance and academic the Admissions Office with student recruitment enrollment retention and family engagement including but not limited to leading the Montagne review the efforts of the Learning Center and Academic Support with the CCHS Marketing Team to plan develop and market inclusion-focused education programs and events for staff students and families.
InterveneAs a Student Outreach and Support Team member develop interventions for students with personal academic school attendance and/or social development students with attendance issues to provide intervention strategies as needed.
OutreachIdentify high-achieving with equity coordinators at other Catholic Marist and independent schools as well as off-campus resource the school at local regional and national multicultural events as determined in conjunction with the principal.
LearnPursue professional development opportunities to remain current with inclusion issues and best practices to best support students.
