VCUs Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation and the Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies (IDAS) invites all interested candidates to apply for our exciting hourly Clinical Research Assistant position! IDAS advances multidisciplinary research and training on the neuroscience of addictions and related neurobehavioral disorders. VCU is UNLIKE the rest. Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The VCU Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies (IDAS) advancesmultidisciplinary research and training on the neuroscience ofaddictions and related neurobehavioral disorders. Research Assistants perform a variety of technical and non-technical duties in in a research laboratory setting.

The Research Assistant will be expected to perform most components of data collection from human-subject volunteers required for a biomedical behavioral research study.

The current applicant will be hired for the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study a multi-site longitudinal study assessing what factors impact youth as they grow and develop over time.

Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Standards

  • Demonstrated ex-perience working in and fostering an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
  • Proficient in computer skills including word processing data entry spreadsheet.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work around youth participants age 15-20.
  • Strong interpersonal skills such as establishing rapport maintaining participant motivation empathic responding ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and ability to use clinical judgment in (rare) emergency situations.
  • Ability to work around MRI machines.
  • Ability to work week 2-3 days per week including Saturdays usually 8:30am-5pm or 9:30am-6pm some flexibility required.

Preferred Hiring Standards

  • Previous experience working with adolescents/young adults.
  • Previous experience using REDCap.
  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • Current CITI Certificates (Social & Behavioral Biomedical GCP).
