Job Description

Be challenged and imagine with us

In this role you will work as a member of the Student Living Team and be responsible for triaging community concerns and providing high quality wellbeing support to both individuals and the wider residential community. You will support residents in navigating common challenges associated with living out of home for the first time such as adjusting to new living environment building positive relationships and balancing academic front facing customer-focused role provides administrative and clerical support to ensure timely and consistent delivery of wellbeing services as part of the wider Student Living closely with the Health and Wellbeing Coordinator and Reslife Standards Coordinator you will contribute to a safe inclusive supportive and vibrant Student Living experience for all residents.

This ongoing position is full time at a HEW 5 Higher Education Level and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).

The Newcastle Student Living Team supports the provision of a positive and vibrant on-campus residential community to foster academic social and personal growth of residential students. The Student Living team adopts a restorative approach in responding to community concerns with the objective to support residents in their journey of becoming Life-Ready graduates.

Your application must include:

  1. Qualifications in social work development studies youth work social sciences counselling or relevant experience working with young people
  2. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a strong focus on building and fostering positive working relationships through clear communication and ability to engage with people from a diverse range of backgrounds
  3. Assess young people through the intake process and make appropriate referrals
  4. Work with young people within a group context and on an individual basis
  5. Consult with young people and relevant community members and services to identify their needs with a solution focussed mindset
  6. Develop creative innovative and appropriate programs for young people to address their needs
  7. Administrative skills including record keeping time management and written and verbal communication skills
  8. Commitment to the provision of the most enriching experience living on campus in relation to supporting residents and supporting the development of life skills
