Job Title: Research Data Analyst

Reports To: Director Office of Community Engagement

Position Summary

The Research Data Analyst will support community-engaged and community-based participatory research initiatives at VCU Massey. This position involves collecting analyzing and reporting data related to health equity cancer disparities and community interventions. The analyst will work closely with internal research teams and community-based organizations to manage data workflows and support collaborative research efforts aligned with Masseys mission to eliminate health disparities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect manage and analyze research data from multiple sources including surveys and public datasets
  • Collaborate with community partners to support research design and data collection tools (e.g. REDCap Google Forms)
  • Create visualizations (e.g. tables charts graphs) to communicate findings to academic and community stakeholders
  • Prepare data summaries and reports for grants presentations and publications
  • Support community-driven research initiatives and events by providing real-time data coordination and analysis
  • Maintain organized and secure research databases ensuring data integrity and confidentiality
  • Participate in community engagement working groups advocate meetings and relevant cancer center activities
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in public health biostatistics epidemiology social sciences or a related fieldor equivalent experience/training.
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. R STATA Excel or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with or supporting community-based organizations.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a related field.
  • Experience with REDCap and other data collection platforms.
  • Knowledge of cancer-related research or health disparities.
  • Familiarity with community-based participatory research frameworks.
