JOB STATEMENT
The Scene Shop Coordinator is responsible for the acquisition documentation accounting and management of materials tools and supplies for the Scenery Department. They also ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the Scene Shop for the purpose of safe and efficient daily operations.
JOB DUTIES
Purchase materials equipment and supplies for productions as directed by the Scenery Director Associate Scenery Directors Charge Scenic Artist or Stage Operations Supervisor.
Maintain proper accounting of purchases and inventory.
Pick up materials and supplies from local vendors as needed and directed by the Scenery Director or Associate Scenery Directors.
In tandem with the Construction Charge Charge Scenic Artist and Stage Operations Supervisor organize and maintain the support facilities utilized by the scenery department including: the scene shop the loading dock basement the Hubbard Theatre and the Neuhaus Theatre.
Maintain stock of shop materials supplies and tools ensuring the safety and day-to-day maintenance and cleanliness of the Scene Shop.
Work with Production Management Scenery Director and Associate Scenery Directors to implement safety guidelines and regulations for the scene shop staff and anyone wishing to use scene shop facilities or equipment.
Assist the Construction Charge with researching and implementing new shop equipment construction techniques and safety practices that would benefit the shop staff.
Work in conjunction with the Alley Theatre Operations staffregardingfacilities maintenance andAlley Theatrevehiclelogistics.
Maintain digital paperwork for distribution to the shop staff (i.e. inventories lists tool/equipment service records special project budget estimates etc.)
Perform scenic carpentry and/or scenic painting duties when needed.
The Scene Shop Supervisor will maintain all hand tools distributed to them as outlined in the Scene Shop Policy Manual.
Represent the theatres technical resources as required by the Director of Production for theatre programs including but not limited to: special events education and community outreach programs building rentals and other non-Alley building functions.
Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE)
Maintain assigned tools.
Functional knowledge of Microsoft office with particular skill in Excel preferred.
Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative thinking about challenges.
Maturity and understanding of the artistic process and excellent interpersonal teamwork and diplomacy skills.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced rapidly changing environment.
Preferred minimum 5 years experience in a theatrical production setting.
Knowledge of safety equipment and products.
Knowledge of the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Detail oriented able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task.
Ability to be self-directed and take initiative.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid drivers license be insurable and able to transport materials and equipment in company-owned trucks.
Exhibits a positive attitude with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of historical and institutional racism in the American theatre or a commitment to learning and to be a part of Alley Theatres efforts to be an anti-racist organization.
College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Be able to routinely lift 30 to 50 pounds.
Regular MEWP ladder and grid work up to 65 feet.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where directions and priorities can change rapidly.
Typical hours are during the day but the position requires flexibility to be available for weekend holiday and evening work hours as needed.
