Job Description

Job Summary:Under general direction of the building principal organizes and administers the high school activity program. The Activity Director assists student leaders to plan develop coordinate and implement school-wide student activities including extra-curricular programming that honors diversity and supports productive citizenship; oversees financial matters pertaining to student accounts; facilitates communications between students administration staff and the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in consultation with the employee(s) involved.

  • Plans develops and implements the activity program consistent with school expectations district policies and state guidelines/procedures particularly in the areas of student safety and money handling.
  • Advises ASB students. Assists student leaders to develop a vision mission and goals; manages and prioritizes activities to create memorable experiences for all students including those traditionally underrepresented.
  • Supervises student leaders as they carry out various ASB activities including but not limited to student clubs school dances assemblies fundraisers recognition events cultural events philanthropic/community service projectsand otheractivitiesin support of the school. Attends ASB sponsored activities. May provide athletic event supervision.
  • Prioritizes coordinates and maintains a year-long calendar for student activities and events that build positive school culture for a diverse student population; shares calendar details with the appropriate stakeholders. Coordinates facility use for activities.
  • Oversees and directs ASB budget (including athletics fundraising and general ASB) development inventory fundraising and expenditures using an appropriate accounting system in accordance with district guidelines. Collaborates with club advisors athletic director ASB bookkeeper students and other district staff to allocate funds.
  • Arranges for technical support and logistical details relative to student activities such as chaperons student volunteers custodial help equipment and supplies etc.
  • Oversee all advisors in the activity program including recruiting hiring and training club officers on ASB procedures. Provides training and coaching to building staff necessary to implement and maintain the activity program.
  • Coordinates and allocates co-curricular stipends and supplemental contracts for the activity program.
  • Organizes and monitors ASB and class officer elections.
  • Oversees monthly student meetings such as ASB General/Student Council/Senate.
  • May organize and support back-to-school events in collaboration with building administration. May organize new student/transition activities.
  • Participates in KingCo League meetings and conferences with other activity coordinators athletic directors and school administrators for the purpose of collaborating on curriculum student activities and WIAA sanctioned activities.
  • Facilitates advises and collaborates on all student KingCo Inter-high events Intra-District Student Council activities and when other community organizations request student representation.
  • Serves as District representative to community groups such as Boosters PTSA Northshore Schools Foundation and the School Board regarding student activities.
  • Oversees campus publicity including electronic communication posters flyers bulletin boards reader boards etc. Communicates with staff students district and community regarding student activities.
  • Plans and/or coordinates student leadership development opportunities and trainings.
  • Coordinates vendor selection for activity related school-wide services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


FTE & Salary: 1.0 FTE of combined 0.6 FTE Leadership with 0.4 FTE Activity Director;2024-25 Northshore Education Association (NSEA) Salary Schedule. Placement on the salary schedule is determined by official documentation verifying educational level and work experience. Salary will be prorated for less than a full-year and/or part-time employees. FLSA: Exempt.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree along with the completion of a teachers preparation program and endorsement skills examinations. Preferred experience in teaching a culturally racially and economically diverse student population in a large school system.

Licenses/Special Requirements: Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate (may not be a conditional CTE or Administror/ESA Certificate). Candidates who are new to the profession or moving from out of state may apply if anticipated to obtain certification prior to the position start date or first day of school.

Working Conditions: Works in a classroom setting; must be able to bend kneel stoop and lift and carry objects typically weighing ten pounds or less; required to stand for extended periods of time; frequently reaches below shoulder height; occasionally pushes or pulls objects; frequently required to use sufficient manual dexterity to operate controls and computer keyboard and handle books and other materials; exposure to infectious diseases; may be required to attend meetings or activities beyond normal work day.

Benefits: Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement package for eligible positions. Generally you are eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31).
