ESSENTIAL DUTIES FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides guidance and direction to professional ancillary temporary or intermittent staff.
- Plans and adjusts work schedules and operations to meet established objectives priorities deadlines and Standards of Care.
- Communicates team assignments projects problem to be solved actionable events milestones and/or program issues under review and deadlines and time frames for completion.
- Identifies distributes and balances department workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow skill level and/or occupational specialization making adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks. Ensures that each employee has an integral role in developing the final team product.
- Assesses team strengths and weaknesses and provide leadership to the team in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made (e.g. work methods processes and procedures).
- Serves as coach facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members.
- Ensures that the organizations strategic plan mission vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the teams strategies goals objectives work plans and work products and services.
- Coaches the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques provide advice on work methods practices and procedures and assist the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
- Ensures admissions and transfers are executed in a timely manner to assure continuity of patient care and efficiency of admission or transfer process.
- Accountable to monitor all aspects of patient care such as: Charge Nurse duties proper documentation of nursing interventions therapeutic measures administered patients reactions and patient teaching and understanding.
- Advises/coaches less experienced staff in patient care work organization and other matters.
- Identifies educational and training needs of team members and works with teams to accomplish tasks or projects.
- Provides or arranges for specific administrative or technical education and training necessary for accomplishment of individual team member needs or team needs.
- Prepare reports and maintain records of work accomplishments and administrative information as required and coordinates the preparation presentation and communication of work-related information to the Nurse Executive.
- Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the Nurse Executives instructions on work priorities methods deadlines and quality have been met.
- Reports to the Nurse Executive as needed on team and individual work accomplishments problems progress in mastering tasks and work processes and individual and team training needs.
- Manages unexpected leave including sick leave and other employee absences in accordance with hospital policy.
- Resolve simple informal complaints from employees and refer other complaints which require formal action to the Nurse Executive.
- Review with Nurse Executive as requested performance management issues/problems and to recommend/request related actions such as: assignments reassignments and promotions tours of duty change peer reviews and performance appraisals
- Communicate team consensus and recommendations to the Nurse Executive on actions affecting team and individual awards rewards and recognition.
- Assists the Nurse Executive with conveying Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance projects to the team and reports to the Nurse Executive team performance and measures.
- Supervises and directs day-to-day work activities completes annual employee performance evaluations and rounding of all staff in collaboration with Nurse Executive.
- Provides direction through daily huddles staff and patient rounding incident reports direct observation and surveys.
- Ensures compliance with the hospital wide Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Conditions of Participation Health Care Financing Administration and Navajo Area Program requirements and identifies opportunities for client care and client process improvements.
- Ensures professional collaboration with other departments for developing multi-disciplinary approach to the provision of care.
- Provides a professional caring attitude when dealing with patients their families hospital health care providers and other departments.
- Ensures consistent positive support for workplace civility allowing no behavior that could be interpreted as creating or supporting a hostile work environment.
- Participates in the development updating and evaluating of standards of care and quality improvement monitoring.
- Collaborates with the Resource Nurse and the Lead Clinical Nurse to develop orientation processes onboarding training and development of staff on unit.
- Completes all yearly Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) required training by the indicated due dates.
- Assists promotes and supports compliance with established CMS standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- Four (4) years Registered Nurse experience in department applying for and
- Two (2) years nursing leadership experience.
Education:
Associate of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
License:
Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in any U.S. State or Territory.
