SUMMARY: Evaluate and participate in the development of programs that will assist students with Hearing Impairments access their educational programs. Communicate effectively with parents and staff in regard to interpretation and or implementation of students Individual Education Plans or Evaluations as required by state and federal regulation and district policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors pure tone threshold of hearing impairedstudents in special education programs and provides information to classroom teachers regarding the use of functioning amplification.
  • Monitors the hearing aids and ear molds of hearing impairedstudents both electroacoustically and by means of listening and speech checks.
  • Recommends hearing assistive technology as appropriate to promote student success in all environments.
  • Participates in the Multi-Disciplinary Teams IEP meetings and parent conferences as needed or appropriate.
  • Participates in the development of IEPs for students as needed and appropriate.
  • Consults with parents staff and outside agencies as appropriate or necessary.
  • Works cooperatively with classroom teachers resource specialists nurses and other allied personnel.
  • Executes and prepares such forms records and reports as may be called for in the audiologic management of the hearing impairedstudents and otherstudents for whom services are required.
  • Works cooperatively with principals and other district administrators and supervisors in planning and implementing the educational programs of the schools.
  • Exercises supervision and care over all equipment furniture books and supplies entrusted to his/her care and instructsstudents in the proper use and preservation of school properties as well as maintains audiologic equipment.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students employees community members and vendors.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Doctoral Degree in Audiology (AuD)
  • Valid State of Arizona Audiology Certification.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)

EXPERIENCE:

  • One or more years of experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
  • Writing general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
  • Adding subtracting multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
  • Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
  • Best practices trends and emerging technologies.
  • Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.

SKILLIN:

  • Competency in computer applications such as Word Goodgle Workspace Excel Outlook and typing.
  • Applying reason to research and solving moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
  • Interpreting an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
  • Maintaining and updating documentation.
  • Organizing and maintaining records files and program information.
  • Gathering data analyzing findings and applying logic and reason.
  • Authoring and preparing original reports documents and presentations.
  • Researching industry trends solutions and best practices.
  • Maintaining confidentiality.
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers supervisors the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class require: stooping crouching reaching standing walking fingering grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor office environment.
