Job Description

Overview

CHI Health St. Elizabeth founded by the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in 1889 is a full-service 260-bed nonprofit regional medical center in Lincoln Neb. St. Elizabeth specializes in the treatment areas of newborn and pediatric care womens health burn and wound cardiology oncology emergency medicine orthopedics and neuroscience.

Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Resident is an active participant in an intensive 12 month post-graduate year one (PGY1) training program to develop extensive knowledge and clinical skills used to provide effective pharmaceutical care. The pharmacy resident functions as a clinical pharmacist participating in clinical operational and administrative activities designed to assist in applying formal theoretical education and research to clinical patient situations. The resident is responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions is eligible for board certification and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Graduation from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) approved school of pharmacy with a BS MS or Pharm D degree including didactic courses and experiential rotations in the clinical aspects of pharmaceutical care.

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Licensed as a registered pharmacist by the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy. Licensure must be received within 90 days from the first day of employment. Extended time requests will be reviewed in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Active BLS and ACLS within 90 days from the first day of employment. Not required for employment.

Required Minimum Knowledge Skills Abilities and Training

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to the pharmacy profession.
  • Knowledge of the principles practices standards and techniques relating to the compounding and dispensing of medications.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of pharmaceutical practice within the acute and ambulatory settings
  • Skills in multidisciplinary team involvement with direct patient care
  • Computer applications such as Microsoft Office
