There is an opportunity for this to be a full-time teleworking position. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring manager per departmental guidelines.

Your role

As Senior Analyst User Experience (UX) Research reporting to the Director Design and User Experience Strategy you work closely with strategists interactive designers product managers and solutions teams to help them develop the best possible user experience for a given digital product.

Youll join the Digital Media team where a major initiative is underway to modernize Radio-Canadas digital ecosystem and make it more resilient in an evolving media environment. This work will be carried out in close co-operation with various departments and will help build the public broadcasters future.

You conduct research in a real (web page or app) or simulated (working prototype) digital environment via user tests and surveys perform evidence-based analysis of digital user behaviour identify trends and present a detailed report of findings and appropriate recommendations.

You plan and operationalize the implementation process for user testing at all stages of digital product development:

  • Updating the participant database.
  • Recruiting participants based on established criteria and expected targets.
  • Profiling candidates as needed.
  • Scheduling appointments and greeting participants.
  • Preparing discussion guides observation checklists and interview guides in tandem with the product team.
  • Making recommendations as to what qualitative or quantitative methodology (survey card sorting guerrilla interviewing focus groups A/B testing etc.) to apply depending on the hypotheses being tested.
  • Preparing appropriate material for interviews (devices recordings confidentiality agreement compensation agreement etc.).
  • Executing user tests and interviews where applicable.
  • Preparing the analysis report which includes the assumptions being tested the desired results and general findings the results for each task recommendations and next steps.
  • Presenting the analysis report to project stakeholders.

Passionate about digital media and social behaviour you base your work on research into digital audience trends behaviours and insights while taking into account business and user needs. You regularly monitor technological developments sociological trends and the competition.

You occasionally assist in running ideation workshops (design sprints design thinking) to help strategists product managers and interactive designers clarify business and UX intentions.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in social sciences cognitive sciences or other appropriate qualification or in design (industrial with specialization in psychometrics ergonomics or digital media; multimedia; graphic design)
  • Three or more years experience in a similar position in a digital work environment

Required skills

  • Extensive expertise in user behaviour analytics in a digital environment.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods applied to user test environments.
  • Knowledge of tools used for research activities (Maze Optimal Workshop Hotjar etc.).
  • Knowledge of prototyping software (Figma Abstract) an asset.
  • Knowledge of digital design and design thinking processes an asset.
  • Good intuition along with excellent analytical skills.
  • Logical structured organizational ability.
  • Curiosity about social and digital behaviour.
  • Initiative and ability to independently recommend solutions to complex problems based on resource and budget constraints technological possibilities and business needs.
  • Willingness to share ideas with a group.
  • Ability to communicate effectively clearly and concisely in French both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of spoken and written English an asset.

Please note this is a 12-month contract position renewable annually. This regular position is not a consulting assignment but a long-term opportunity with attractive CBC/Radio-Canada employee benefits.
