Position: Network Technician
Classification: Unlicensed Staff
Terms of Employment: Full-Time 209 Days - 4 Day Work Week.
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
This is an unlicensed position assigned to the Classified Salary Schedule
POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a skilled Network Technician to undertake tasks of network and server infrastructure development and maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and install well-functioning computer networks connections and cabling
- Inspect LAN and WAN infrastructure and fix minor or major problems
- Test and configure software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices
- Evaluate Network / Server performance and find ways for improvement
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their own work
- Do regular data backups to protect the organizations information
- Provide technical direction to co-workers on computer and network usage and offer comprehensive advice and instructions
- Maintain logs records files and controls of maintenance repairs performed equipment and supplies.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of software and hardware system enhancements.
- Maintain a positive and friendly attitude while working with others.
- Perform occasional supervisory duties in teh absense of the IT Director.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduation or other equivalent (i.e. GED college technical or trade school transcript foreign equivalency etc.).
- Valid Class C Drivers License
- Work is performed in a classroom setting. Must be able to work in a non-intrusive manner.
- While performing duties of this job the employee is frequently required to talk or hear sit crawl climb. Use hands to finger handle feel reach to operate objects and controls.
- Proven experience as network technician or relevant position
- Outstanding diagnostic problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication skills
- Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
- Hands-on experience with common software and hardware
- CCENT/CCNA and or Microsoft Certified qualifications are preferred
- Familiarity with Linux Windows and scripting environments are preferred
- BSc/BA in computer science computer engineering or relevant field are preferred
EXAMPLES OF ASSIGNED WORK AREAS:
Elko County School District - schools (i.e. classrooms restrooms locker rooms corridors schools theaters cafeterias etc.) offices grounds construction sites etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Strength:
Medium/Heavy - exert force to 50-100 lbs. occasionally; 25-50 lbs. frequently; or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing walking pushing pulling carrying and stooping. Reaching kneeling handling and repetitive fine motor activities.
Occasional climbing balancing crouching and crawling.
Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
Vision:
Occasional near and far acuity depth perception and color vision.
Environmental Conditions:
Climate-controlled office setting and exposure to weather with temperatures ranging from mild to moderate to extreme cold/heat.
Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud for occasional to frequent time periods.
Hazards:
Furniture playground/office equipment communicable diseases chemicals (as related to specific assignment) and power/hand-operated equipment and machinery (as related to specific assignment).
