ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT
This position is responsible for the daily operations of projects including scheduling and coordination of material tools equipment safety accessories subcontractors and Ross Group field personnel while continually updating the project management team of progress issues and problems. Your primary focus is to implement contract documents and achieve quality schedule safety and budget requirements for your assigned scopes of work. You will also be responsible for ensuring costs crew and equipment meet the necessary project and company standards.
In this role you will
- Operate a $5 thousand to $2.5 million project
- Assist the superintendent in overseeing each stage of a project and preparing the construction schedule
- Communicate regularly with the project management team to update them on progress and any issues or problems
- Review the contract documents update as-built conditions and prepare the weekly look-ahead schedules
- Procure the temporary project trailer utilities access roads storage facilities fencing and other needed jobsite facilities
- Identify and stake key areas as well as post site hazard warning signs and emergency numbers
- Complete daily quality production and safety inspections at the jobsite
- Coordinate weekly safety meetings for Ross Group personnel and implement safety procedures to meet OSHA guidelines
- Monitor daily cost and review invoices prior to the delivery of products and equipment to ensure timeliness of critical path items
- Monitor field staffing needs performance evaluation and employee issues
- Coordinate with subcontractors suppliers and personnel for mobilization and continued support during each phase of the project
- Create a punch-list for completion prior to the request for a Substantial Completion certificate and coordinate with the superintendent and subcontractors for completion of punch-list items
- Represent Ross Group during the testing of alarm systems mechanical systems and equipment
- Coordinate with project management to ensure all certificates and final inspections have been obtained and all close-out documents are complete
As the ideal candidate you
- Have five to ten years experience in the construction industry with a demonstrated ability to lead and supervise employees.
- Have a proven successful project history of maintaining quality schedule safety and actual cost versus estimated cost you excel at managing rapidly changing priorities to accomplish project goals.
- Effectively manage field staff by appropriately staffing projects providing formal and informal evaluations/feedback addressing employee issues and providing appropriate training and mentoring
- Use strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of employees Ross Group management and outside partners such as owners architects engineers subcontractors and suppliers
- Have previous experience speaking to small groups is a plus
- Are willing and able to relocate to Ross Group project sites
- Dont mind flexible work hours with an average of 50 hours per week or as needed

You are physically able to
- Work outdoors in extreme conditions such as cold heat and humidity on a regular daily basis
- Lift push and pull up to 50 lbs when necessary
- Control mechanisms or provide direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
- Operate maneuver navigate or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment on a regular daily basis
- Stand climb bend and stoop on a regular daily basis
- Use hands and arms to handle install position and move materials and manipulate items when needed
- Use visual and auditory skills
Some positions warrant eligibility for a monthly auto allowance. When an employee is deemed eligible the use of the vehicle must be for the employers convenience; the use of the vehicle must be required as a condition of employment; vehicle must qualify as an acceptable vehicle defined by Company depending on the employees function within the organization.
