Job Description

Role - Hospitality and Engagement Specialist

Location - South Sound Clinic - Olympia WA

Compensation - $28.85/hr.

Schedule - Tues. - Sat. 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM

Job Summary:

The Hospitality & Engagement Specialist role is part of the Behavioral Health team which supports ETS mission by providing supporting services to patients. This role makes a critical difference at ETS by assuring patients are provided a safe and therapeutic environment where they can access needed resources. This position will foster relationships and community building by providing patient-centered services from a harm reduction perspective utilizing motivational interviewing therapeutic verbal de-escalation and trauma- informed care approaches. The central purpose of the Hospitality & Engagement Specialist is to help create a welcoming environment where patients feel a sense of respect and belonging and in turn access resources needed to improve their quality of life.


What you contribute to this role Responsibilities:

  • Help ETS succeed in carrying out our mission through working together with other staff to transform systems of harm and inequity to create different approaches to improving community health and safety through addressing substance use and homelessness.
  • Assist with the organization-wide initiative to reimagine our interconnectedness within our community to overcome the aspects of our society and organizational culture shaped by white supremacy and settler colonialism.
  • Helps create a safe and therapeutic environment by letting patients in the door and welcoming them to the ETS space
  • Develops rapport and trusting relationships with patients through respectful person-centered engagement practices.
  • Orients new patients to the space(s) and facilitates patient flow in and out of the space while maintaining a hospitable and friendly demeanor.
  • Meets with Patients within their first 2-days to review the ETS Clinic Services Safety Agreement and complete a Crisis Intervention Plan.
  • Monitors patients activities inside the clinic and to the extent of ETS property with the intent to address any potential safety risks or violations of program rules and regulations.
  • Produces and distributes a daily email prior to the beginning of dosing that provides the clinic with needed information about the days safety team rolls.
  • Submits incident reports or other relevant documentation when appropriate.
  • Monitors and reports hazardous materials and conditions.
  • Works in collaboration with Counselors and Case Managers to support individual service plans for patients with challenging behaviors.
  • Demonstrates highest level of integrity and maintain exceptional levels of confidentiality related to 42 CFR part II and HIPAA.
  • Responsible for clinic opening and closing procedures.
  • Conduct Bathroom Checks.
  • Assists with receiving and stocking supply shipments for the clinic.
  • Assists police fire EMS and all other emergency service providers in the performance of their duties while responding to or on ETS property.
  • Responds to all facility alarm activations including but not limited to security duress fire and intrusion alarms.
  • Helps implement systems to support patients in the milieu space with behavioral issues.
  • Helps support large patient events and activities.
  • As needed operate oversized RV-style vehicle(s).
  • Attends ETS team meetings and other required meetings.
  • Always follow all ETS policies and procedures.

Requirements

What you bring to this role Qualifications:

Education and/or Relevant and Lived Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Undergraduate degree highly desirable
  • Academic training in the social service or SUDP/SUDPT field highly desirable

Experience

  • A minimum of two years of experience in work related to social work or outreach programs required
  • Experience providing services to addicted individuals from a harm reduction perspective preferred
  • Experience with case management homelessness and co-occurring disorders highly desirable

Knowledge and Skills

  • An understanding of racial justice and social equity and a commitment to helping create an equitable environment for all ETS clients and patients as well as fellow staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients patients and staff from a wide variety of ethnic socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Possession of a valid Washington State Motor Vehicle License
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team in a health-care/behavioral healthcare setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/ written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload work independently and complete tasks timely and efficiently.
  • Dependable able to work under pressure receptive to change willingness to learn cooperative approach to problem solving.
  • Flexible team player with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling highly sensitive information.
  • Ability to set boundaries resolve conflict and de-escalate issues.
  • Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as a high level of initiative in keeping current with technological change

Additional Essential Information:

Physical Requirements:

The employee may be exposed to illicit drug residues and fumes or other bio-hazardous materials when carrying out job functions. There is also potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens. ETS will provide employees with appropriate training to limit the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Policies and procedures are in place addressing each item specifically.

The employee is regularly required to be on their feet: standing walking and kneeling; occasionally to climb balance stoop or crouch and crawl. They will regularly be in communicating with program participants while coordinating the clinic milieu. In addition the position frequently requires the employee to work outside in inclement weather. Additionally the employees is required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close color and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
