About the Opportunity

The Ember Connect Indigenous Research and Engagement Officer is a core position of an Australian Research Council Linkage Project LPEmpowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Girls Changing Communities which is based in the Institute of Indigenous Knowledges.

This role will engage with local community and undertake project management and coordination including conducting literature reviews of Indigenous education helping draft ethics applications and managing project logistics. In addition this role will:

  • Work closely with other Engagement Officers/Research Assistants
  • Maintain regular contact with Ember Connect as the partner organisation
  • Foster community connections and co-author project outputs
  • Be active in the Ember Connect program including social media and mentoring programmes and will be liaison point between researchers participants Project Steering Group members and other stakeholders
  • Provide quality research assistance to and establish and maintain positive working relationships with all project stakeholders to ensure project outcomes are achieved and celebrated
  • Promote Ember Connect within UTAS and the broader university community
  • Liaise with the Riawunna UTAS student support and engagement teams and other ARC Linkage partners
  • Create promotional and other marketing collateral

Whats Required

  • Ability to use the relevant computer programs required for reports graphics and photos
  • Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by girls and women in gaining an education.
  • Excellent liaison skills with the ability to create new networks
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration or ability to obtain

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at R.A 3 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $103327 comprising a base salary of $88314 plus 17% superannuation.
