Benefits with a whole-person approach to wellness
This role would be teaching breastfeeding classes at TCA. In-person 2 hour classes are offered every 3 weeks alternating with the other educator to equal 6-8 in-person classes per year. The total time for the in-person class is 3.5 hours (about 1 hour for set-up and 30 minute for clean-up). Virtual/Zoom 1 hour classes are offered quarterly. The virtual class can be taught from home. The total time for the virtual class is about 1.5 hours.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Identifies learning needs of class participants community and team members to inform of curriculum and establish teaching plans.
Utilizes evidence-based best practice to inform and instruct customers and the community about childbirth newborn care sibling acceptance and parenting.
Maintains knowledge base of current childbirth education approaches and techniques.
Collaborates with education department and unit leadership to integrate changing OB unit practices into education curriculum.
Conducts class evaluations to understand content delivery and training effectiveness.
Completes any required documentation on time and accurately using current technology.
Respectfully addresses situations or decisions to ensure customer concerns or needs are met and escalates unmet concerns as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A licensed health professional (RN APRN Physician etc.) or degree in education or related field
Two years of clinical experience
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
Current professional license as appropriate
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing stooping walking bending pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Climate controlled office setting with daily movement throughout the facility
Interaction with department members and other healthcare providers
