Temporary Accommodation Support Officer

Permanent

Grade

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

We are looking for officers who can deliver responsive and customer focused tenancy support service to homeless customers who are in temporary accommodation.

The successful candidates will support the day-to-day operation of the Temporary Accommodation Service and works towards the reduction of the use of emergency B&B accommodation.

We have a mixture of vacancies within the job role and all involve hybrid working. None of the vacant positions will involve full time work from home. All post holders will be expected to attend an office location when required. Some of the positions will also involve multiple locations for example visiting customers in hotels and temporary accommodation addresses in Birmingham and surrounding. A driving licence would be beneficial but is not essential however non drivers will still be expected to be able to carry out the role at the relevant sites and addresses.

The challenge:

Homelessness can happen to anyone and in Birmingham its happening to more and more people. It can lead individuals and families into a cycle that can have a profound effect on all aspects of life from physical and mental wellbeing to sustainable employment. Were focused on preventing people from becoming homeless but if they do we aim to intervene as early as possible to limit the impact of homelessness help people recover and make them more resilient in the future.

About you:

Personal strengths and values are more important than experience as we offer full training and plenty of support. We look for compassionate empathic people with good communication skills. You should be happy dealing with a diverse range of people including some with vulnerabilities and multiple complex needs youll know how to build trust and rapport. Youll be good at solving problems and finding practical solutions and be motivated to work with homeless families. You will need a willingness to learn as well as have attention to detail and IT Skills with an ability to interrogate a database and knowledge of Microsoft Packages including Outlook Teams and Word.
