Vendor Management & Operations Manager
Location: Remote
Reports To: VP of Operations & Service
Role Summary:
Our client is seeking a strategic relentless and results-driven Vendor Management & Operations Manager to own and overhaul supplier relationships component sourcing and procurement strategy. This leader will critically evaluate all current vendor pricing negotiate new terms and identify lower-cost alternatives with equal or better quality. Beyond strategic sourcing this role owns the end-to-end purchasing workflow for both new machine builds and spare parts orders managing cost lead time and delivery readiness across the entire supply chain.
You will work cross-functionally with Customer Success (Spare Parts) Engineering Inventory Ops and Shipping teams to ensure every purchase supports build timelines service responsiveness and margin goals. You will also lead purchasing operations within Fishbowl the MRP system and maintain part availability visibility across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Reduction & Vendor Strategy
Audit and benchmark all current vendors and component pricing identifying opportunities for cost reduction without sacrificing quality or lead time.
Aggressively negotiate better terms discounts and MOQ requirements with existing suppliers.
Source new vendors (domestic and international) capable of supplying parts to our client s technical specifications and quality standards at reduced cost.
Issue Vendor RFPs and evaluate vendor proposals samples and production capabilities before onboarding.
Own the entire purchasing lifecycle from PO issuance to delivery using Fishbowl MRP this includes new machinery builds spare parts restocking and one-off project needs.
Create and manage reorder points minimum stock levels and lead time buffers for critical components based on production forecasts.
Ensure all parts are delivered on time in full (OTIF) escalating or resolving late/missing deliveries before they impact operations.
Maintain detailed vendor profiles including negotiated pricing lead times quality history and SLA adherence.
Collaborate with the Customer Success Manager (Spare Parts) to ensure fast cost-effective fulfillment of customer parts orders.
Coordinate with the On-Site Inventory Ops Manager to plan parts pulls for staging new machine builds.
Liaise with the Shipping & Receiving Manager to ensure seamless inbound tracking inspection and handoff of purchased components.
Create and manage vendor scorecards that assess cost competitiveness defect rate lead time adherence and responsiveness.
Drive KPIs such as cost savings average lead time on-time delivery rate and inventory turnover.
Report monthly on procurement health vendor risks and opportunities for strategic consolidation or supplier switching.
Requirements:
5 years of experience in vendor management procurement or supply chain roles preferably in industrial manufacturing or machinery sectors
Proven track record of successful cost negotiations and supplier transitions
Expertise with Fishbowl MRP or similar manufacturing ERP/MRP software
Deep understanding of component lifecycle MOQ lead time structures and logistics constraints
Experience managing multiple vendors across geographies (domestic international sourcing)
Excellent spreadsheet and data analysis skills (Excel Google Sheets procurement dashboards)
Background in mechanical components automation systems or electrical assemblies
Experience sourcing globally from manufacturing hub countries
Familiarity with freight negotiation and customs processes
Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience is a plus
