The Recovery and Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting TALs mission to help customers return to wellness and work following a claim. By leveraging their allied health expertise the Recovery and Support Specialist collaborates with claims consultants and external rehabilitation providers to design and manage tailored recovery programs. This role ensures that rehabilitation efforts are clinically sound strategically aligned with claim outcomes and delivered with empathy and professionalism to support vulnerable individuals during challenging times.
In this role you will:
- Collaborate with Claims Consultants to assess claimant needs and recommend appropriate rehabilitation services.
- Liaise with external rehabilitation providers to coordinate and manage tailored recovery programs.
- Interpret and critically analyze medical documentation to determine suitable interventions.
- Provide expert advice during case conferences and support decision-making on complex claims.
- Educate and coach Claims teams on rehabilitation products processes and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records and manage referrals using TALs claims system
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders external providers and occasionally with claimants.
- Support vulnerable customers with empathy ensuring their recovery journey is well-managed and compassionate.
- Contribute to team development through knowledge sharing and occasional mentoring.
- Stay informed about industry practices and maintain a strong understanding of income protection claims and life insurance operations.
Qualifications :
- 36 years in allied health preferably within insurance or a rehabilitation provider
- Prior exposure to claims processes (in a supporting capacity not as a claims assessor)
- Background in life insurance or workers compensation (injury management roles preferred)
- Allied Health qualification in Physiotherapy Psychology Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation Counselling Exercise Physiology
