The Accountant position is a full-time NYPA temporary role and the selected candidate would be eligible to participate in our temporary benefits program. You would be eligible for medical benefits and eligible to participate in our retirement plans along with a 457 Deferred Compensation plan and the employee assistance program.
The Accountant will support NYPAs Controllers business unit reporting into the Senior Manager Plant & Cost Accounting and will perform professional accounting work at NYPA relating to the compilation treatment and analysis of financial data leading to preparation of financial reports and cost of service schedules.
The Accountant will maintain accounting records and prepare financial statements in accordance with USGenerally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and provisions of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). The Accountant will also assist with the classification of cost between Capital and O&M along with cataloging capital costs within the appropriate FERC system of accounts and NYPA Policy.
Valuable skills include Excel ERP (preferably SAP) strong communication and collaboration skills interest in learning and the ability to pivot as needed due to business needs.
