This position provides assessment academic financial transfer career and general advising to prospective new and current North Hennepin Community College students to assist with academic success persistence graduation and transfer. This position will also focus on veteran students and veteran initiatives collaboratively with Student Affairs and Veterans Affairs to provide holistic support of veteran student success.
Salary Range:
$25.29 - $36.71
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of professional experience in academic advising or a closely related student support services role. An associates degree may substitute for 6 months of experience a bachelors degree for 12 months and a masters degree for 18 months.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of college student development and various learning styles.
Strong ability to learn understand and explain the academic standards of NHCC and a variety of degree requirements.
Experience working with a diverse student population.
Personal computing/technology skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; experience with and comfort utilizing multiple types of technology to provide advising services.
Preferred Qualification
Bachelors degree
Two years of experience working in higher education
Experience creating and developing career and degree plans
Previous experience in career academic or financial aid advising
Familiarity with D2L ISRS EAB Navigate and Slate
