Successful external applicants may be eligible to receive a one-time Signing Bonus of up to $5000. This bonus is associated with a Return of Service Agreement equivalent to the positions length.

Accountable to the Managers of the Ambulatory Surgical Care and Ambulatory Care & Regional Poison Centre the Clinical Leader Development (CLD) plans develops and implements educational activities at a program/team based level across the Childrens Health Program to foster the development of competencies (in staff). Participates actively in the development of Childrens Health Ambulatory Care staff through coaching and mentorship and by sharing knowledge and resources and providing feedback. Provides clinical practice support to all health care team members and patients. Functions as a change agent by thinking reflectively assessing alternatives and supporting change. Participates in the recruitment and selection of personnel to attend appropriate education programs events conference etc ensuring limited resources are allocated fairly and equitable. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide orientation to new staff members and preceptors including roles and responsibilities; Acts as resource to preceptors for on-going preceptor development; Coordinates learner placements for nursing practice; Acts as a clinical resource related to patient care continuing education development and/or review policies objectives and guidelines. In collaboration with Professional Development Consultant plans educational programs to meet identified learning needs; Acts as a liaison among health care team members in identifying trends in patient care. Acts as a liaison with other IWK CLDs/Rehab Coordinator to initiate and facilitate Program and Centre wide initiatives including Accreditation. Uses knowledge of theories of human communication and interpersonal relationships to facilitate communication among staff; Provides leadership in the delivery of evidence-based care and facilitates the integration of research into meeting established patient care standards/ guidelines / protocols; Seizes informal and formal learning opportunities to educate colleagues and; Supports care area based strategic plans and initiatives.
