SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under the direction and supervision of the Special Services Director and ECEAP Lead Teacher this position will participate in the development and implementation of a daily classroom program in accordance with ECEAP standards and service delivery plan. This position collaborates with the Lead Teacher in the planning and implementation of daily classroom programs for preschool children.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior ECEAP experience.
- Background in early childhood education and elementary curriculum.
- Preferential consideration to an applicant with an accredited AA degree/endorsement in Early Childhood Education or (12) college quarter credits in Early Childhood Education.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of successful relevant documented work experience in a preschool or childcare setting;ANDone of the following education requirements:
- The equivalent of 12 college quarter credits in early childhood education; or
- Initial or higher Washington State Early Childhood Education Certificate; or
- A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential awarded by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition
- First aid and CPR card within 90 days of hire.
- Completion of tuberculosis (TB) skin test unless there is written proof of one of the following:
- A negative TB test in the 12 months prior to hiring
- Medication therapy to treat TB
- A recent negative chest X-ray and a statement from a healthcare provider that the individual does not pose a risk to others.
- Maintain a valid food handlers permit issued by Spokane County Health District.
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later).
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
- Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from the hire date.

- Knowledge of positive management techniques and their application in the classroom.

- Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the instructional/learning process and effective teaching strategies.

- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with district staff to enhance the completion of assigned tasks.
- Flexible in learning new concepts adapting to a variety of assignments and conditions and problem-solving in a dynamic team environment.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to maintain high standards of professionalism and diplomacy in dealing with the public and district staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the teacher in the implementation of the daily classroom program and maintain the safety and well-being of all the students enrolled in the program.
- Prepare the physical environment as directed by the ECEAP Lead for a safe and orderly learning environment with developmentally appropriate activities including preparation and organization of all classroom materials.
- Actively contributes to a positive educational climate for students to learn.
- Assists with children in large and small group activities as directed by ECEAP Lead.
- Follow ECEAP performance standards and have knowledge of early childhood curriculum.
- Performs daily cleaning of the classroom including sanitizing classroom equipment and maintaining a clean food service area.
- Assists with meal service including helping children learn appropriate eating habits.
- Follows a consistent schedule that meets individual needs including small and large group experiences choice time large and small motor activities skill development meals and effective transitions between activities.
- Observes and documents childrens development as directed by ECEAP Lead
- Encourages experimentation exploration problem-solving cooperation socialization and choice-making.
- Assists in the supervision of children in learning proper physical hygiene changes children in soiled clothes and performs diapering as necessary.
- Prepares records for children as directed by ECEAP Lead.
- Assists in the supervision of students to ensure safety during pick-up and drop off.
- Provides integrated comprehensive services to children with special needs.
- Perform additional tasks needed in accordance with the ECEAP program performance standards.
- Meet with the teachers to communicate information and discuss goals with the direct service team.
- Follow directions from Lead Teacher and assume the lead position if Lead Teacher is absent.
- Attend staff meetings conferences and all required training programs.
- Participates as a member of the classroom program and building team.
- Maintain and promote personal and professional growth through appropriate coursework workshops reading of professional materials etc.
- Collaborates with the ECEAP team and special education team to support students who have special needs.
- Maintain appropriate student records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work yearare determined by thenegotiated agreement and the needs of the District.
Verification of identity and United States work authorizationmust becompleted before employment commences. The successful candidate for thispositionmust complete a fingerprinted background check with the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Employment is contingent upon clearance of the background check.
