The Role

We are seeking a number of Apprentice Greenkeepers to join the team. The Club is open to someone new to the industry wishing to complete studies in Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (or similar as approved by the Club) or who is currently an apprentice including 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th year.

Reporting to the Course Superintendent you will be involved in all aspects of turf maintenance required for the upkeep of the golf courses. The diversity in playing surfaces at the Club offers unique development opportunities for ambitious sports turf professionals.

This is a Full-Time position working a rotating roster which includes one weekend shift every 2nd week.

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance

• Assist with the operations and maintenance of both golf courses including native heathland areas.
• Assist with the maintenance renovation and reconstruction of all turf and garden areas.
• Apply fertilisers and pesticides as directed and complete fertiliser/pesticide application records.
• Carry out hand held spraying and boom spraying of weeds as required.
• Carry out landscaping duties as required.
• Set up the golf course for daily play and tournaments/club events.

Equipment

• Safely operate and maintain Turfcare equipment and operate other machinery or equipment requiring the holding of specialised licences upon being trained.
• Report defects or damages to the Workshop Manager immediately to ensure machinery is fixed in a timely manner.

Essential Requirements:

• A genuine commitment to studying a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or equivalent (including attendance of TAFE)
• A genuine interest in greenkeeping
• Reliable
• Highly motivated with a strong work ethic
• Excellent communication skills

Desirable

• Manual Drivers license
