Position: Kindergarten Assistants
Commencement Date: As soon as possible or as negotiated with the successful applicant
Employment Status: Term-Time
Hours per week:up to 45 hours per fortnight
Salary: $24.95 - $31.66 per hour; (NB. pending qualifications; age based salary rates apply if under 21)

Your Role
Applications are now invited from qualified educators for the position of Kindergarten Assistants to support Catholic Kindergartens in the Mackay Region. The below opportunities are available:
- Kindergarten Inclusion Support Assistant at Emmanuel Kindergarten - 30 hours per fortnight (5 day fortnight Monday Tuesday and alternate Wednesday)
- Kindergarten Inclusion Support Assistant at St Brendans Catholic Kindergarten - 15 hours per fortnight (5 day fortnight Thursday Friday and alternate Wednesday)
For the right applicant there is the potential to undertake both roles for 45hours per fortnight. These positions are for an immediate commencement or as negotiated with the successful applicant.
This position reports directly to the Kindergarten Director or person appointed to be responsible for the centre. Other key relationships include children families and the Early Learning & Care Manager.
As a Kindergarten Assistant you will play a vital role in supporting kindergarten teachers and students in their learning journey. Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with classroom activities including lesson preparation and resource organisation
- Providing one-on-one or small group support to students including students with additional needs.
- Monitoring student progress and behaviour providing feedback to teachers
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as record-keeping and organising educational materials.

About you

A minimum of a Certificate III in Childrens Services or equivalent (ACECQA approved qualifications: required.

Mandatory Requirements
- A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
- A minimumCert III in Childrens Services (or working towards)or equivalent is required. A Diploma in Childrens Services or equivalent (ACECQAapproved qualifications) is preferred.
- Hold one of the following Child Protection competencies or willing to obtain:
- CHCPRT025Identify and report children and young people at risk
- CHCPRT001Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
- CHCPRT026Support the rights and safety of children and young people
- CHCPRT002Support the rights and safety of children and young people
- CHCECE057Use collaborative practices to uphold child protection principles
- First Aid Certificate CPR Anaphylaxis & Asthma Training (ACECQA approved)
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
