Associate Attorney

Practice Area: Environmental Law / Government and Regulatory Affairs

Location: Any Major Metropolitan City in Texas (HTX Dallas ATX)

Schedule: Onsite Fulltime; Big Law Billables (1850 annual minimum)

Salary:$200000 - $300000 per year base salary

About the Client:

An internationally respected legal service known for its corporate M&A practice is building out a comprehensive regulatory environmental and government relations practice. This opportunity arises from expanding client needs in the energy and environmental compliance sectors.

Position Overview:

This associate will sit in one of 3 major metropolitan areas in the great state of Texas amongst a highly proficient team of attorneys comprising a dynamic practice. The role encompasses sophisticated environmental and regulatory counseling especially in the context of corporate and real estate transactions largely to do with oil & gas acquisition mineral rights right to operate and ensuring energy clients the smoothest start-up and commissioning of greenfield EPC projects.

Key responsibilities include due diligence regulatory compliance across federal and state statutes (e.g. RCRA CERCLA CAA CWA TSCA FIFRA) enforcement actions ESG and climate disclosure advising and administrative litigation under NEPA ESA and other core statutes. Ideal candidates will have industry experience with energy companies and familiarity with OCSLA and offshore/onshore oil and gas development. The role provides extensive mentorship high-level client interaction and exposure to cutting-edge regulatory and litigation matters affecting energy and environmental policy.

Candidate Requirements:

  • JD from an American Bar Association accredited law school with membership to the Texas State Bar.
  • Minimum of 6 years as a practicing attorney with 24 years within environmental law.
  • Proficiency in transactional environmental due diligence federal regulatory compliance land acquistions and other commercial real estate matters .
  • Knowledge of EPA regulatory frameworks and core US federal environmental laws
  • Experience advising energy companies would be a large advantage as well as prior exposure to OCSLA or public land/ocean permitting is a plus
