Job Summary:
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is a strategic human resource advisor and manages the full range of HR services and support to Schools. They focus on stay up to date and become expert at school priorities goals structure operations schedules ways of working and best practice. They monitor evaluate and monitor trends events that are internal and external to CHC that impact the schools and determine and respond to implications for human resources. They develop strong effective trusted working relationships with school leaders managers staff and stakeholders. They are responsible for implementing HR strategies to the schools goals and operations to align to CHCs strategic and annual plans and budget. The HRBP will be a critical change agent who partners closely with their department leaders to enhance organizational performance foster a positive and progressive culture and working environment and promote CHC mission vision values and leadership behaviors.


The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about CHC and the schools financial position risks and opportunities its market position and its competition. They stay current with California employment law and make data driven recommendations within the HR team and with their respective leadership groups. They are also the primary contact for employees in their respective business units and promote advocate for and operationalize CHC culture goals into the work they do to uphold CHCs employee value proposition.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs the role as a trusted advisor to enhance organizational effectiveness and performance this includes but is not limited to:
Proactively working with leaders on workforce planning talent acquisition and organizational development etc.
Aligning the skills and goals of the staff within their business units with the overall business objectives
Identifying training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
Participating in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure successful outcomes.
Following up to ensure training objectives are met.
Providing guidance and input on business unit restructuring workforce planning and succession planning.
Building rapport with staff in their respective business units and participates in recurring meetings.
Providing day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g. coaching counseling career development disciplinary actions).
Applies HR strategies to meet business objectives
Ensures HR initiatives align with the organizations mission vision and long-term strategy.
Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions programs and policies.
Manages metrics to monitor and enhance employee engagement
Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships build morale and increase productivity and retention.
Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Consults with line management providing HR guidance when appropriate.
Providing HR policy guidance and interpretation.
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective thorough and objective investigations.
Ensuring business units receive adequate training required to remain compliant with California employment law and relevant agencies.
Reviewing/Developing contract terms for new hires promotions and transfers as needed.
Partners with the legal counsel and compliance department as needed/required.
Leading HR projects as assigned and performs some general duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
School-Based Experience: Direct experience in or around K-12 school environments; understands daily school dynamics.
Recruiting & HR Fluency: Comfortable navigating school-based hiring challenges; drives recruiting amidst day-to-day complexity.
Communication Ownership: Leads seamless communication flow between school sites and HR functions.
Credentialing Expertise: Familiarity with teacher/staff certification processes and compliance.
Employee Relations: Skilled in resolving workplace concerns performance issues and fostering positive staff dynamics.
School Navigator: Calm under pressure; experienced in diffusing interpersonal or emotional school-site situations.
Sense of Urgency: Prioritizes well and acts swiftly in dynamic high-stakes environments.
Flexibility & Adaptability: Nimble in response to shifting priorities and school demands.
Accountability Champion: Promotes ownership and high standards in self and others.
Change Agent: Applies change theory to support organizational and cultural shifts within schools.
Mental/Behavioral Health Awareness: Ideally brings experience in student support mental health or behavior intervention settings.
Youth Experience: Has worked with children in any capacitycounseling teaching mentoring etc.
Self-Starter Mindset: Proactive and solution-oriented; thrives without needing micromanagement.
Ability to comprehend interpret and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws guidelines regulations ordinances and policies.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.


Education and Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices organizational diagnosis employee and union relations diversity performance management and respective federal and state employment laws.
Bachelors degree preferred.
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation:
Range: $145000-$165000
Pay Type: salary


* The starting base salary for this position is as shown above. The actual base salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background training work experience location business needs and market demand. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
