Job Description

Curriculum Team Leaders have the responsibility for providing instructional leadership in the following subject areas: English language arts; mathematics; science social studies; world languages; guidance; and special education. Curriculum Team Leaders are assigned to grades 6-12. They will teach a 60% load and have adequate time to conduct their work as Curriculum Team Leaders. They will not be assigned to bus duty corridor duty study halls or cafeteria duty. Job description is subject to change pending contract negotiations. Work Year:Teacher work year plus eight (8) additional workdays to be scheduled prior to the beginning of the school year unless an emergency occurs after June 30 which requires a change in the scheduling of those Responsibilities:Program Leadership: directly with the Assistant Superintendent Curriculum and Professional Development and the high school and middle school principals planning and providing program and staff consensus among the Curriculum Team members on its mission goals values and policies and publish those leadership for curriculum development and refinement within the discipline based on the Massachusetts Curriculum that the curriculum delivered is consistent with the written curriculum for each student performance data and develop strategies for performance the use of effective instruction and student assessment strategies based on research and best interdisciplinary planning across subject areas including school-to-work course offerings and recommend needed revisions deletions and a course of study for the discipline to the high school and middle school principals as part of the scheduling co-curricular and extra-curricular student Leadership:Assist principals in supervision and evaluation of teachers within the discipline using the Research for Better Teaching model by participating in pre-observation and post-observation conferences by completing the observation report for designated members of the discipline at the middle and high school and providing recommendations and input to the principal as to the summative evaluation. the professional development needs of teachers and seek resources to meet these request of the Principals and the teacher or upon request of a committee established under the Remedial Plan section of the Wilmington Public Schools Performance Standards/Evaluation Procedures provide direct assistance to teachers involved in diagnosis and prescription of teaching support for new the Principals in interviewing candidates for teaching positions within the Curriculum Team at the high school and middle school. Communication: with the Guidance staff relative to student course selection to ensure proper assignment of students to in articulation between the elementary middle and high school to ensure a smooth transition for leadership in fostering positive family-school communication including assisting teachers in effective problem resolution with families.
