The benefits specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all health and welfare benefits flexible spending accounts ancillary benefit programs and leave management. The specialist will also ensure seamless operations of other compliance programs.
Responsibilities:
Manage benefits-related activities across a multi-state workforce of 2100 employees
Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments and deductions in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information and ensure accurate contributions.
Assist with open enrollment process including communications distribution OE system testing and educational webinars.
Perform quality checks of benefits-related data.
Assist employees and managers with their benefit questions or issues. Provide additional assistance when employees are experiencing issues with insurance carriers.
Process and administer leave-of-absence accommodation requests and applicable disability paperwork.
Assist with ACA compliance and management of 1095Cs.
Participate in monthly invoice reconciliation and billing.
Administer and manages the companys drug and alcohol testing programs including FAA PHMSA FMCSA and random testing protocols through compliance and monitoring sites including DISA ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Navigate benefits operations for various plans during post-merger integration
Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations across multiple cycles and jurisdictions

Required Experience and Skills:
Bachelors degree and 2 years of Employee Benefits experience required ideally in rapidly growing organization. Additional HR generalist experience preferred
SHRM-CP PHR or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred.
Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws including leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA ADA and other applicable leave laws.
Knowledge and prior experience administering FMLA leave and navigating ADA accommodation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Customer service oriented with the ability to respond to questions/concerns timely and accurately
Experience streamlining or automating operational processes
