The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Family Engagement Specialist will work with Wilmington Public Schools to provide wellness support case management services and resources to students and families to overcome the challenges presented as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This position will be an essential collaborator to create and provide multi-tiered social emotional learning intervention support aimed at fostering the well-being of each child to achieve social emotional and academic success. The SEL and Family Engagement Specialist promotes the vision of WPS by providing an inclusive respectful and collaborative learning environment where all stakeholders are engaged in the development of the whole child. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain ongoing caseload and data to track student concerns and progress; assess student and family needs and monitor indicators of mental health and/or additional supports needed. Assist with and utilize behavioral health social emotional or school climate screening tools and data systems to provide a coordinated approach to individual and district wide SEL students throughout the school day by providing evidence based therapeutic interventions through whole group small group and individual short term counseling to promote healthy coping skills development and resilience with staff and teams in the development and implementation of multi-tiered systems of social emotional targeted interventions at the building level including mental health and improved behavior resources and referrals for community support services and act as an ongoing liaison between families and outside crisis intervention. Appropriately triage students assess risk and provide referrals if needed. Collaborate with the Director of Student Support Services and Coordinator of Behavioral Health and Social Emotional Support to implement district-wide social-emotional learning (SEL).Provide ongoing support for families in need including group work parent events and referrals for crisis intervention including outside of the regular school day hours.*Assist with and provide relevant PD for families student and staff on emotional well-beingAttend district wide trainings/meetings clinical staff meetings and school based faculty and Instructional Support Team (IST) towards vertical alignment of clinical services to ensure positive transition for students and families in assigned schoolsOther related duties may be assigned*Work Year: *200 workdays annually to be scheduled at the discretion of the Director of Student Support Services or designee. The length of the workday will vary due to accommodating necessary work with students and their families. This is 40 hour a week individual contract position to include up to 10 flex hours outside if the school day per week (potential workdays may include summer or school vacation weeks). These hours may be used for professional development family support group work crisis intervention and/or necessary administrative duties.
