Job Description

- Event Manager -

Department: Management

Reports To: Cannon Green Operations Manager

Purpose: Supervise and direct the Events service staff through all phases of an Event including event set up day-of event execution and service and breakdown and clean up. Create and maintain relationships with clients and guests in event areas with a strong passion to elevate ones special event experience. Act as a liaison between the kitchen service teams sales and guests to provide a truly wonderful and memorable experience.

Role: This position is a full time position with flexibility on weekly hours dependent on the event schedule and needs of the business.

Essential Functions: Must possess strong communication skills both verbal and written and demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities. Must be able to delegate responsibilities organize complex projects and establish priorities consistent with business objectives and philosophies. Have a positive attitude and a courteous demeanor with all customers staffers and vendors. Must be able to work well with others and help with other responsibilities as needed to maintain an environment of teamwork.

Event Responsibilities:

  • Supervise staff and direct day-of-event set-up service and breakdown maintaining thorough knowledge of BEO and directing staff to follow accordingly.
  • Write out the Event Board with assignments for set up and event service. Cross-check with BEO and staffing to make sure everything is correct with any last-minute changes.
  • Supervise and assist with service in accordance with Cannon Green standards ensuring specialty plates and food allergies are served properly.
  • Meet/greet all Clients in order to act as liaison between the group and Cannon Green.
  • Ensure bars are clean and properly stocked; print and distribute the Bar Pull sheets to bartenders for each event.
  • Supervise and assist with completing assigned side work.
  • Manage staff during the event to ensure service according to established policies & procedures.
  • Perform Opening and Closing inventories of event bars and dinner wines; collect Bar Pull sheets at the end of each event.
  • Clean all bars and ensure liquor is locked away at the end of each function.
  • Ensure banquet rooms are reset and left presentable at the end of each function.
  • Keep the staging area clean and organized and maintain proper storage of linens and equipment for events.
  • Refer any guest complaints or issues to the Operations Manager in writing; document all accidents or incidents with the appropriate Incident Report Form protocols.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all other members of the Banquet staff as well as other Cannon Green staff and vendors.
  • Lead post-shift team meeting at the end of each event to solicit team feedback.
  • Compose and send a brief recap report to the Operations Manager Executive Chef and Operations team after each event.
  • Familiarize oneself with emergency safety and first aid procedures and report all accidents and safety hazards.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist with interviewing and hiring new banquet staff to maintain necessary seasonal staffing.
  • Train new hires in proper event service standards and procedures; conduct regular training for all staff.
  • Oversee employee uniform inventory and check out assignments.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager perform regular beer wine and liquor inventories monitoring and accounting for variances and recording into running monthly inventories.
  • Assist Operations Manager in monthly Big 4 inventories managing par levels for event equipment.
  • Manage event equipment maintenance keep track of inventory and ordering of materials in the China Room staff uniforms linens and seat cushions.
  • During the slow season you may be asked to support service in the Restaurant or assist Event Sales Managers in other basic sales and administrative duties.
