Job Description

Status: Full Time Salaried FLSA Classification: Exempt

Summary of Position:The Family Preservation Specialist is responsible for providing intensive in-home crisis intervention counseling and skill-building for families with children at imminent risk of placement or in placement and in need of intensive services to support reunification using the New Jersey Family Preservation Services (FPS) Program Model. The NJ FPS model is designed to keep children safe strengthen families prevent out-of-home placement and safely reunify children and their family. Family Preservation Specialists carry a caseload of no more than two (2) families at any given time except during the last week prior to discharging one family when staff may carry a third (3) case.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Social Work Psychology Sociology Human Services or a related field.
  • At least 1 or more years of experience in providing services to families in crisis.
  • Licensure (e.g. LSW LPC) is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with community resources
  • Proficient in Office 365; knowledge of an electronic health record (EHR) system is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation valid drivers license and current auto insurance required
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
