Salary:Level 7 Step 1 ($3410.25 biweekly)

Reporting to the Kjt-in Zho Manager the Kjit-in Zho Evening Supervisor is responsible for the effective and efficient operations and administration of Kjit-in Zho (Youth House) work-plans budgets proposal-writing fundraising and supervision of the Youth Support Workers. This position collaborates with the Kjit-in Zho Manager and the Youth Support Workers to provide program selections for Kjit-in Zho including the design development coordination and the delivery of life enhancement programming and supports for TH youth based upon cultural recreational social and educational components. The position works cooperatively and collaboratively with the Niehyat Nidhj and Education staff to ensure holistic case management is taken with a trauma-informed approach when supporting the youth and program planning. The position also works cooperatively and collaboratively with TH Department teams as beneficial as well as various community resources in order to meet goals objectives and community expectations to the best possible extent. The position is the main contact for the TH Youth Council and attends the Elders Council regularly to share information and consult on programming and youth supports to provide administrative support and to render advice and guidance as requested.

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time permanent part-time temporary full-time temporary part-time term or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma / Certificate / coursework in a related field such as the social sciences child and youth care or education combined with experience working in a community environment providing social educational or recreational programming. An equivalent combination of education training skills and experience may be considered.
  • Strong supervisory coaching mentoring and performance management skills.
  • Experience with program planning workplans activity reporting budgets and documentation.
  • Experience in problem solving conflict management and dispute resolution.
  • Knowledge of traditional and contemporary recreational activities social and life skills programming and activities relevant to First Nations and small communities.
  • Knowledge of principles of healthy child and youth development.
  • Knowledge of social issues affecting First Nations youth.
  • Knowledge of restorative theories and practices for children and youth.

Assets:

  • Knowledge of legislation and regulations relating to youth i.e. Niehyat Nidhj and government of Yukon MOU in respect to family child services Yukon Child and Family Services Act / Regulations as well as knowledge of youth-oriented health social and recreational policies.
  • Knowledge of or willing to learn Trondk Hwchin government structure culture traditions history demographics family structures socio-economic dynamics challenges and aspirations basic phrases of the Hn language as well as the intergenerational impacts of residential schools on individuals families and communities.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license and willingness to obtain a Class 4 and a clear drivers abstract.
