You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Staff Accountant position will be responsible for preparing examining and analyzing account records financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy completeness and conformance to all outlined requirements and procedural standards. This position will also be responsible for performing account reconciliations preparing journal entries participating in the monthly financial close process and assisting with annual financial statement audit tax requirements and other financial matters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field.
Two years related experience and/or training in accounting with related studies in business administration.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS
Driver qualification status is not required for this position.
Successful registration with the Office of Child Care Central Background Registry.
Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.
Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic proficiencies in computers including MS Office (Outlook Word Teams Excel) are required.
Demonstrates ability to perform intermediate accounting functions.
Utilizes effective communication skills with individuals and small and large groups.
Organizes prioritizes and applies logic in approach to work effective time management managing multiple priorities and planning and meeting deadlines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
Assists in processing month-end close including but not limited to: journal entry preparation and analytical review of accounts for significant and unusual variations tax requirements and other financial matters. Notifies Accounting Manger with any issues or concerns.
Prepares monthly General Ledger financial reports using the computerized general ledger report system for all Agency grants and/or programs. Researches information requests and responds to issues involving general ledger accounts.
Prepares examines and analyzes financial statements confirming to GAAP OMB Uniform Administrative Requirements and cost principles. Maintains procedural standards.
Performs account reconciliations and trend analysis.
Helps prepare schedules for the annual audit performed by external auditors.
Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and MWVCAA policies.
Provides information or system reports to directors and others as requested and as approved by the CFO.
Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
