Job Description

Planning 

  • Plan request budget from concerned components for GESI activities project beneficiaries consultants and other GESI activities in each component.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources and appropriate utilization of planned budget in the GESI activities.
  • Identify any possible issue with GESI activities within the project plan and implement improvements.
  • Present the quarterly plans and reports in the national level quarterly meetings.

Capacity building 

  •  Identify the knowledge gaps of farmers partners staff and project staff.
  •  Prepare tailor made training material for farmers DAs and master trainers.
  •  Provide training to the project & zonal master trainers.
  •  Coach & mentor the field staff on site on gender equality social inclusion issues.
  •  Prepare/ revise gender equality social inclusion brochures leaflets and posters.
  •  Provide guidance to selected A-TVETs in gender equality and social inclusion issues.

Financial & Administration management  

  • Review and monitor the budget expenditure rates of project beneficiaries and project partners on gender and social inclusion section. 
  • Prepare budget to address gender equality and social inclusion issues in Farmer field school Farmers Organizations ATVETs Universities Micro Finance institutions and Smallholder Chain Integration Fund activities project beneficiaries staff and partners.

Monitoring Evaluation & Reporting

  • Continuous assessment of the effectiveness of the training cascade activities to partners and beneficiaries of the project on gender equality and social inclusion. 
  • Present the quarterly plans and reports in the national level quarterly meetings. 
  • Regularly communicate with the Team Leader national and regional team members and other project stakeholders about project progress and challenges at the national and regional levels
  • Contribute to the documentation of gender equality social inclusion achievements in terms of reports publications brochures and/or guidelines.

Networking Learning & Representation

  •  Establish and maintain strong and genuine working relations with international national and regional stakeholders and partners on gender equality social inclusion and visit regularly to anticipate bottlenecks.
  •  Establish and maintain good working relationship with related NGOs and projects research institutions and projects MFI/Banks and private service providers and private enterprises.
  •  Liaises and communicates with partners at international national regional level and other development programs for sharing of lessons ideas and creation of complementarity.
  • Represent the project in the international national and regional meetings workshops and visits.
  • Establish and maintain strong and genuine working relations with the Ethiopian Agricultural Authority on gender and social inclusion issues and visit regularly to anticipate bottlenecks.

Qualifications :

Education and Experience

  •  Masters degree in the field of gender in horticulture and at least10 years experience in development work and project implementation or technical field.
  •  Experience in designing and implementing training and capacity-building for program staff and partner organisations. A strong understanding of GESI aspects of rights and justice issues in Ethiopia is required.
  • Experience in policy social norms and practices influencing and advocacy
  • Solid understanding of young woman agri-preneurship specificities in the Ethiopian context
  • Experience in collaborative and adaptive monitoring evaluation and learning.
  • Understanding of public-private partnerships private sector development and working with various local institutions

  • Excellent verbal written presentation skills with the ability to articulate information at various levels.

Additional Information :

Contract Type: National - Full time

Expected start date:  September 1 2025

Duty Station:  Addis Ababa - Ethiopia

Contract Duration: One year with the possibility of extension based on the availability of Budget and performance.
