About Sahara Services
Sahara Services is an NDIS-registered provider offering Supported Independent Living (SIL) Community Access and Respite services to individuals with disabilities. As we expand our accommodation services we are seeking a dependable compassionate and organised House Support Lead to guide both staff and participants toward exceptional care outcomes.
This hybrid role requires 60% hands-on participant support and 40% administrative leadership making it ideal for someone with both frontline experience and the ability to manage daily operations.
Role Summary
The House Support Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a designated SIL property. This includes ensuring high-quality support is delivered to residents maintaining compliance standards supervising staff managing stakeholder communication and driving a positive home environment.
Key Responsibilities
Participant & Staff Engagement (60%)
Provide direct support to participants (ADLs medication community access behavioural support)
Step in during high-risk behaviours escalation points or medical situations
Promote participant independence choice and dignity
Ensure daily routines appointments and activities are fulfilled
Support team morale and on-the-floor coaching/mentorship
Administrative & Operational Oversight (40%)
Prepare and maintain participant documentation including progress notes incident reports risk assessments and medication charts
Oversee staff schedules timesheets and leave requests
Liaise with the workforce team for shift coverage staff allocation and training compliance
Conduct house audits fire safety checks fridge temperature logs and medication audits
Lead monthly team meetings and escalate critical updates
Compliance Responsibilities
Ensure house operations meet NDIS Practice Standards and SIL compliance
Maintain documentation as per SCHADS Award NDIS guidelines and internal policies
Support with BSP implementation restrictive practices and incident reporting
Track and ensure staff training is up to date (e.g. manual handling medication infection control)
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with:
Participants and their families
Support coordinators and behaviour support practitioners
Allied health professionals
Internal management and operational teams
Attend case conferences or family meetings and provide timely updates
Handle complaints or concerns with empathy and a solution-focused approach
House Management Activities
Ensure the house is clean safe and welcoming
Coordinate repairs maintenance and WHS checks with the landlord or agency
Manage inventory (medication PPE groceries household supplies)
Facilitate lifestyle activities and social outings in collaboration with the community team
What Youll Bring
Cert III or IV in Disability Community Services or equivalent (Diploma preferred)
Experience working in SIL or residential disability care
Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills
Proficient with digital documentation email and Microsoft/Google systems
Calm under pressure with leadership qualities and a proactive mindset
Essential Requirements
Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Current First Aid & CPR
Valid Australian Drivers Licence
Full COVID-19 vaccination
Proven experience leading teams or acting as a senior support worker
