Job Description
Self-Direction DSP - Solvay Area (Job #ES-AC)
Exceptional Family Resources is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide Com Hab in the Solvay/Westvale area to a 21 yr old boy with developmental disabilities nonverbal and uses a wheelchair. His family is looking for a dedicated active individual to provide him with support and supervision both at home and in the community.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to getting him off the bus at 2pm at his home in Solvay or picking him up directly from Day Hab in Syracuse supervision at all times accompanying and supporting him during community outings driving his wheelchair accessible minivan for transportation ensuring his safety and providing personal care when needed (changing dressing etc..). Mom typically gets home around 6ish but she would love someone to stay until maybe 7 or 8pm well she is starting dinner or running errands after work.
Community outings may be taking him to the zoo movies walking at the parkway or around the mall going to the library to read him books. At home assistance might be making his bed or helping put away his laundry. Also working with him on stretching his arms and legs.
We are looking for an individual who is dependable patient enthusiastic able to work independently prior experience is preferred but not necessary. Some lifting is required and must have a valid drivers license.
Training will be provided by the family.
Hours: 2pm to 7pm Monday - Friday being flexible to do some weekends is a huge plus.
Pay $28.00
All new hires must complete a five-hour initial training. The pay rate for the initial training is $16.50/hour.
Background check fingerprinting and DMV record check will be conducted prior to hire by the non-profit agency.
