The salary scale for Professional Support 1 is based on steps that range from $60247.72 - $80098.81 New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $70158.30 annually.

What you will be doing

NSCC is committed to ensuring that students have access to consistent quality services that support their adjustment to community and a warm welcome provided by knowledgeable and skilled campus teams. With a fluctuating number of international students attending NSCC as well as students moving from other provinces or other parts of Nova Scotia to attend the College there is a growing demand for more robust off-campus housing and transition supports and services that aid students in getting to and transitioning into these new communities.

Reporting to the Manager Housing and Student Life as a Coordinator Housing and Transition Supports you will be responsible for:

  • Researching developing and implementing comprehensive off-campus housing supports tools resources and services province-wide and in collaboration with campus partners.
  • Through the development of connections with community property owners housing developers and other local/provincial accommodation resources and in consideration of campus/community-based housing best practices developing services and supports that assist students in finding and securing short-term accommodations and longer-term housing.
  • Supporting the administration of the NSCC Emergency Housing Program and working collaboratively with campus and community supports in the operationalizing of the program.
  • Researching developing and implementing community transition services supports and activities either in-person and virtual as required to create a positive and welcoming student experience for international students domestic students and other communities of students attending the College.
  • Providing in-person/virtual housing and transition support to students which includes 1:1 meetings development and execution of webinars training and presentations.
  • You will work closely with internal partners such as NSCC International Recruitment Admissions Central Student Affairs and Campus Student Services teams.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a two-year Community College diploma in a related discipline. Focus on Business Administration Management Social Sciences considered an asset.
  • Project Management Certificate would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of three years (full-time equivalent) of recent occupational experience in a post-secondary education setting supporting students developing and executing arrival/transition support services and program administration and/or event management
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite E-mail social media platforms and CRM platforms
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • Direct experience supporting international students in a post-secondary education setting would be considered an asset
  • Direct experience supporting post-secondary students in navigating the housing rental market would be considered an asset.
