General Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Instruction principals and teachers in ensuring that the elementary middle and secondary science curriculum offers rich educational experiences effective instructional resources are provided to support the written curriculum and promotes the use of effective teaching strategies.

Curriculum Responsibilities:
- Assists the Director of Instruction with the alignment of state standards into school-level science instructional programs.
- Keeps abreast of all Virginia Department of Education expectations and requirements related to science instruction.
- Leads science curriculum teams in the design of instructional support documents and division-level assessments.
- Coordinates curriculum revisions/realignment of standards and addresses the incorporation of 21st Century Learning Skills.
- Facilitates the correlation of the Science Standards of Learning with K-12 science textbooks ancillary materials and assessments.
- Facilitates textbook/resource adoption processes for K-12
- Serves as the division-level Science Fair coordinator.
Assessment Responsibilities:
- Provides support to principals and lead science teachers STEM coaches and specialists on analyzing and utilizing data to improve achievement results of
- Assists in the dissemination of information to science teachers related to Standards of Learning Assessment changes and requirements.
- Assists with analyzing and disseminating data related to science formative and summative
Instruction Responsibilities:
- Works with the Director of Instruction the Director of Professional Learning and principals to provide professional development for science teachers to improve student achievement and engagement in learning.
- Supports principals in the implementation of standards-based teaching and learning.
- Assists teachers in designing acceleration and/or intervention strategies to support the learning needs of all students.
- Participates with K-12 science teacher teams to further develop a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.

Requisite Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Strong foundational knowledge in the
- Solid understanding of the Virginia Standards of Learning for
- Possess knowledge of formative/summative assessment and the ability to assist administrators and teachers in analyzing and interpreting data as it pertains to setting improvement goals and targets.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with administrators and teachers to meet established goals.
- Ability to lead groups of teachers through curriculum document design/alignment and the design and development of assessments.
Requisite Education and Experience:
- Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with a Science
- Masters degree
- Pre-k-12 administrative endorsement preferred.
- Prior experience as a school or district administrator preferred.
- Three to five years successful teaching experience in science curriculum including general science courses as well as advanced level courses.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see read talk hear handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as but not limited to: a personal computer calculator copier and fax machine. Significant climbing stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting grasping or repetitive motions required.
