Legal Assistant (working title: Grants Assistant)
The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is seeking a motivated candidate to join OPWDDs main office contracts and grants team. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines organize efficiently adapt to changing tasks and handle multiple priorities.
The Grants Assistant will work directly under the Associate Director of Contracts and Grants and assist the unit in all aspects of grant contracting.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist the Associate Director in increasing productivity and efficiency in the unit by taking the lead in streamlining operations increasing efficiency of unit workflow and developing a more structured system for managing grants files
Act as an additional review to ensure accuracy in documents letters reports etc
Assist in review and organization of various solicitations contracts and grants
Coordinate and arrange meetings and monitor several email mailboxes
Perform a wide variety of activities associated with contractual and administrative services
Perform legal and legislative research
Assist with and coordinate special projects as assigned
Act as a backup for the Contracts Assistant when they are unavailable
Technical Qualifications - Please provide experience with the following and include the number of years.
At minimum an Associates degree Bachelors degree preferred (recent graduates with less than full time experience are encouraged to apply)
Employment history of at least 2 years (office experience preferred not necessarily required)
Excellent writing and analytical skills strong communication and organizational skills
Experience with Microsoft applications
