This is a full-time position located in Augusta. This opportunity allows partial telework with management approval.

The Maine CDC Office of Injury and Violence Prevention (OIVP) is looking for a planning and research associate to provide support for community violence prevention programs across Maine. This program will support work creating protective environments promoting healthy family relationships connecting young people to caring adults and strengthening skills in youth and young adults.

This position will support the development implementation and evaluation of community violence prevention initiatives across Maine. This position will focus on conducting research gathering data and assisting in the analysis of community violence trends risk factors and effective prevention strategies. This position will work closely with the OIVP team to inform evidence-based decision-making and ensure the successful execution of violence prevention programs across the state.

Core Responsibilities:

As a key member of the OIVP team your core responsibilities will include:

Gather and analyze data related to community violence
Assist in the design implementation and analysis of program evaluation
Support the development of evaluation tools data collection processes and outcome measurement strategies
Analyze data to identify patterns and insights related to community violence prevention
Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
Support the maintenance of the Injury and Violence Prevention data and information hub
Support the development of strategic and action plans including identifying best practices and opportunities for enhancement
Assist in preparing grant applications contract documents proposals and reports
Work closely with a diverse group of stakeholders to share data and insights for program planning and improvement

Minimum Qualifications:

(Entry level knowledges skills and/or abilities may be acquired through BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience).
A six (6) year combination of education training and/or experience providing knowledge of principles of research and planning.

Preferred candidates will also have:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to gather synthesize and summarize a variety of information
Ability to translate data into actionable insights
Experience with program evaluation techniques and tools
Experience with program evaluation techniques and tools
Ability to present data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners
Computer skills including knowledge of statistical software
Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
Knowledge of community violence prevention strategies
