Our client is a key player in the agricultural production sector specializing in the processing of plantain flour and other related food products. They are looking to hire an experienced food factory manager to oversee all productions in the factory. The ideal candidate must multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and have strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality management successful candidate must be a problem solver and self-starter that can oversee all departments within the factory drive the strategy to achieve the company s objectives and require little guidance to thrive in a demanding environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Achieve the Company s annual production target of 5000MT of organic plantain flour per year.
- Oversee the operation of a food grade oil boiler and an air compressor that are key to the Company s drying operations.
- Manage the storage of raw materials and of finished to ensure minimal loss in the process.
- Oversee the quality control and laboratory teams to achieve the highest grade of flour possible.
- Manage and execute the weekly factory s budget with an emphasis on reducing wasteful expenses and optimising the business unit s profitability.
- Supervise the consumption of production intrants particularly electricity gas and diesel to optimize production costs.
- Anticipate potential equipment repairs establish a detailed maintenance schedule and oversee the troubleshooting of all production equipment.
- Lead a team responsible for Brilliant Factory solutions in full collaboration with operations engineering quality IT and other business partners.
- Be a problem solver that will map out the process of achieving stated objectives and anticipate in solving unforeseen challenges with no supervisory guidance.
- Serve as a key leader within the supply chain operations organization providing keen logistical insight and thought processes that drive change and exhibit cost leadership practices.
- Coordinate with supply chain planners particularly the raw materials team to ensure all daily shipping schedules are planned and all transportation requirements are fulfilled.
- Resolve and communicate issues that arise from manufacturing deployment and inventory availability issues transportation constraints and many others.
- Manage a facility and equipment to include the lift-truck fleet scanning equipment and systems conveyor equipment and systems and all associated facilities.
- Work with engineering management to identify and improve overall efficiency and quality of the program in the future.
- In still a customer perspective of quality in the factory while leading critical initiatives for lean manufacturing virtual manufacturing and other approaches that drive predictability productivity and profitability into the supply chain.
- Integrate Lean NMS activities with machine monitoring smart metering and visual factory initiatives.
- Devise reporting metrics and performance dashboards for the factory.
- Oversee the manufacturing team to meet production targets and quality standards while managing inventory levels to produce 24 / 7
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
- Monitor and analyse production metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
- Train and develop staff to enhance their skills and productivity.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Spearhead the obtention of all ISO and food certifications for the factory.
- Allocate workload develop staffing scheduling training and development of staff.
Job Requirements
- Advanced degree in engineering business administration manufacturing or a related field; Master of Science in Business Administration (MBA) Process Management Risk Management Computer Science or Management of Information Systems are a plus.
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to multi-task in both individual and team assignment scenarios.
- 5 years of experience in industrial food and/or production with a demonstrated track of success.
- Demonstrated ability to produce export ready food products is a must.
- Certification in PMP Scrum Agile Six Sigma OHSAS18001 ISO14001 PMI ITIL ASQ CQE ISO SCRUM or ISEB preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with demonstratable proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office and ERP software.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to address production challenges and optimize workflows as well as willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing priorities.
- Superior analytical skills to both gather and interpret production data in order to identify areas for improvement.
- Strong interpersonal and motivational skills to inspire workers empower the manufacturing team and build positive relationships across the factory.
