Job Description

The essential functions of the role include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Supervises physical therapists physical therapy assistants rehabilitation aides and volunteers. 
  • Assists in directing developing and implementing physical therapy department goals by following existing state and federal regulations hospital mission vision and plans departmental personnel policies and acceptable medical practices in order to ensure an efficient and effective program.  
  • Assesses staffing needs and maintains appropriate staffing levels according to department procedures and prioritizations. 
  • Assists in the development of the budget by analyzing the departments programs staffing patterns and funding sources to meet current and future program needs. 
  • Evaluates patients by reviewing the patients referral utilizing standardized tests and procedures incorporating subjective and objective information and interprets findings to develop physical therapy assessment and goals. 
  • Develops physical therapy plans of care for range strength mobility function pain wellness education and administers treatment programs after reviewing the patients referral and medical records and physical exam in order to maximize the patients recovery. 
  • Uses and applies various physical therapy treatment modalities and procedures for diseases injuries and conditions evaluates effects and makes adjustments in accordance with accepted practice. 
  • Provides education to patients and families by instructing self-care activities exercises mobility pain relief function modification of activities wellness and disability or disease process. 
  • Enforces proper safety procedures in the performance of all duties in order to protect the health of the patients and staff. 
  • Communicates with patients and staff in a professional manner that promotes customer service. 
  • Develop and implement processes of quality improvement (QI)/performance improvement (PI) related to the physical therapy department.  

The 2558 Senior Physical Therapist may perform other duties as assigned/required. 


Qualifications :

  1. LICENSE: Requires registration as a Physical Therapist licensed by the Physical Therapy Board of California ();AND 
  2. EXPERIENCE: Requires three (3) years of experience in applying physical therapy rehabilitation techniques

Additional Requirement for the LHH position:Requires two (2) yearsof Geriatrics & Rehabilitation Experience**

One-year fulltime employment is equivalent to 2000 hours (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week).

Assessment Component
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in the Training and Experience (T&E) exam that is designed to measure the knowledge skills and abilities in job-related areas which may include but not be limited to:

Training and Experience Evaluation Questionnaire (T&E) (Weight: 100%): The T&E will be sent to those qualified candidates who demonstrate to meet the minimum qualifications. Candidates will be required to submit the completed T&E in the time frame indicated and responses on the T&E cannot be changed once submitted. 

Candidates must achieve a passing score on the T&E exam in order to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score.

Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.

Certification
The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be theRule of Ten Scores.

Eligible List/Score Report:
Once you pass the exam you will be placed onto an eligible list and given a score and a rank. For more information visit  duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be 6 months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
