Job Description

Job Summary

This position leads the ongoing development and maintenance of the CMS Academic Advising (AA) Module and E-Advising tools functionality. Direct responsibility for administrative setup development testing and systems analysis within the area. Responsible to ensure system integrity and resolve issues related to the AA Module and E-Advising tools including but not limited to: EAB Advisor Request System (ARS) Degree Audit and Degree Planner systems. The position requires a high degree of technical and functional knowledge including the ability to translate business requirements into system specifications as well as the ability to coordinate and resolve technical issues. This is a hands-on position requiring a combination of project management team facilitation and systems analysis skills in support of Advising and E-Advising Systems. Furthermore the incumbent provides services that are equitable inclusive and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs the duties of Module Lead for the PeopleSoft Student Administration Academic Advising (AA) Module. Responsible for integrity accuracy and maintenance of Advisor Center Degree Audit Degree Planner and Advisor Request System (ARS) systems among other advising-related functionality. Ensure that Advising tools are customer-focused integrated efficient documented and in compliance with best practices and legal requirements. Plan communicate and coordinate activities pertaining to upgrades fixes enhancements issue-tracking test plans and end users. Troubleshoot problems escalate and track issues and follow up with resolutions. Translate business requirements into technical specifications for reports. Oversee security needs for all AA and EAB functionalities.
  • Project Management & Advisor Support: Produce tangible deliverables in the form of project plans issue lists status reports white-paper analysis recommendations and prototypes. Ensure that deliverables are accurate and timely. Anticipate potential impacts to the system as a result of system upgrades releases fixes and business process changes. Review all training communications and change management materials to optimize efficiency and user experience.
  • Oversee Assistant Module Lead.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The individual consistently maintains a safe work environment and communicates with the University community in a civil respectful and professional manner aligning with the institutions mission and values. They possess thorough knowledge of online student information systems imaging systems and degree audit and planner tools and demonstrate subject matter expertise in transfer credit articulation transfer admission and graduation processes. With a proven ability to analyze user needs and translate them into detailed specifications they design develop implement and maintain complex technical rules that support academic and administrative business processes. Their skills include analyzing data requirements researching access methods and utilizing reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and Query to develop user-friendly reports. They interpret and apply academic policies and procedures effectively particularly in curriculum transfer credit rules and degree audit building while coordinating workflow and ensuring data integrity through approved processes and testing. Known for exercising sound judgment working independently and fostering strong working relationships they also ensure operational continuity by documenting roles and responsibilities comprehensively. Their commitment to customer service is evident in their empathetic and fair treatment of students faculty and staff and they uphold the quality and usability of system data with diligence and accountability.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Educational Technology Communications or related technical field and two years of related work experience required.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $6666 - $7667 per month commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5158 - $12730 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment
