PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist skilled Painter in all phases of work associated with the painting trade including surface preparation graffiti
removal and interior and exterior painting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Licensure
Clear and valid Texas drivers license
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of equipment materials methods practices and tools used in painting trade
Ability to properly apply paints/ Mix match and apply paint varnish enamel and other finishes.
Ability to estimate materials and time required to complete various tasks.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to work cooperatively with others.
Ability to work independently and be detail oriented
Ability to read blueprints and schematics correctly
Work Conditions
Tools/Equipment Used: Painting and drywall tools and equipment including brush roller spray equipment sand and water blaster; small hand tools power tools and measuring tools; light truck or van
Posture: Frequent standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures dust toxic chemicals and materials noise vibration and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel; maintain emotional control under stress
Minimum Experience
1 year experience in painting field- preferred
